Kennedy Human Rights seeks a temporary part-time Accounting/Finance Assistant in the Management & Administration Department to help prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization”s assets, tax liabilities, reporting, and other related financial activities.nn nn n nn nn Management & Administration Team: nn nnThe Management and Administration department is made up of the core team which helps run the day-to-day operations that keep Robert F.

Kennedy Human Rights up and running.

The team includes IT, Finance, HR, and Office Administration.

We strive to provide an environment and services that both enhance the quality of our engagement while also improving the probability of generating our desired organizational goals.nn nn n nn nn Job Responsibilities: nn Knowledgeable in generating internal financial reports; Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.

Coordinate with Development Manager in the review and preparation of grant applications + reporting; Monitor and disbursement of monthly Amex credit card statements to department directors and prepare reports for entry into the financial system.

Assists Accountant with annual audit and 990 filing; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit and 990 filing; Support Accountant and Assoc.

Director of Development with managing accounts receivable collections; Maintain and update vendor/contractor contact list; Help manage and recommend updates to enhance the accounting software system (i.e.

Quickbooks, etc.) and future integrations w/ CRMs (i.e.

Salesforce); Maintains knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), practices and procedures; Coordinates with Accountant and HR Manager to file tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies; Do your part in keeping our operations running smoothly
– tracking your hours and submitting timecards in a timely manner; Perform other accounting/finance related duties as needed.

nn nn nn Qualifications:nn At least two years of work or educational experience within the field of Accounting, Bookkeeping, and Finance; Proficiency and experience working with Quickbooks or a similar accounting software; Ability to read and analyze Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet Statements; Ability to crunch numbers and utilize systems such as Microsoft Excel; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Attention to detail, you”re able to scope out errors and willing to fix mistakes; Time management, you have the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at once; High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information; Innovative thinking, an unwillingness to accept things as they are, and a strong work ethic are essential; Teamwork, you are able to build positive relationships with your colleagues and are willing to help others; Inclusive, you”re excited to work with colleagues with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives from your own.

nn n nn nn Preferred but not required qualifications: nn Non-profit or public accounting experience; Experience working on HRIS and/or payroll systems (i.e.

ADP, Zenefits, etc.); Experience working with online reimbursement systems such as Concur.

nn n nn nn Availability and Compensation: nn Available at least 7.5 hours (one full work day) per week, up to 20 hours per week max; Part-time hourly pay; This position is eligible for overtime pay.
