Associate Director, Center for Jesuit Education

FLSA Status: ExemptMonths Per Year: 12Hours Per Week: 37.5Position DescriptionThe Associate Director of the Center for Jesuit Education will be a dynamic, collaborative, strategic leader who serves in the formation of faculty and staff for Jesuit Catholic mission, through ongoing and innovative program design, strategic collaboration, university committee service, presentation and facilitation to large and small groups, and pastoral leadership.

This is a full-time exempt position, and reports to the Executive Director of the Center for Jesuit Education.Function 1 Title: Program Design and Leadership (65%)The Associate Director serves in a leadership role in the formation of faculty and staff for Jesuit Catholic mission through ongoing and customized programs including new staff orientations, reading/discussion series, seminars, lectures, retreats and other formats.

The Associate Director is responsible for all logistical and content components, recruitment of planning team members and presentation partners, budget oversight and communications and evaluation.

The Associate Director seeks out collaborative initiatives across the university with offices such as the Center for Faculty Development, Institute for Catholic Thought and Culture, Center for Community Engagement, and Chief Diversity Officer.

The Associate Director works alongside the Executive Director as well as the CJE Faculty Associates in the conception, strategy, design, analysis and evaluation of both continuing and new mission initiatives to advance the Jesuit Catholic mission in service to the faculty and staff population at the university.Function 2 Title: University Committee Service (15%)The Associate Director regularly serves on both Center for Jesuit Education and university committees, bringing the perspective and expertise of a professional in mission & identity work to fulfill the charge of the committee with a focused mission perspective.

Types of committees may vary, including but not limited to: strategic planning, community engagement, academic programs, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, and project-based committees.Function 3 Title: Presentation and Facilitation (10%)The Associate Director offers presentations and facilitation as requested for specific programs, university events, or for academic or other campus units on a customized basis.

Content mayvary, depending on the emphasis of the given program/event.

The Associate Director also facilitates panels and moderates team presentations, utilizing an Ignatian and Jesuit lens.Function 4 Title: Pastoral Leadership (10%)The Associate Director provides pastoral and ministerial leadership in a range of settings, helping to strengthen the Jesuit Catholic spirit of the university community through leadership in prayer, retreat presentations, spiritual direction, pastoral availability to colleagues, and in other ways.QualificationsThe Associate Director will have the minimum following skills, qualifications and attributes:Masters degreeDemonstrated commitment to the Jesuit, Catholic mission in higher educationUnderstanding of Jesuit and Catholic intellectual traditionExperience teaching, leading seminars, or presenting to diverse audiencesDemonstrated knowledge and experience of the Jesuit commitment to respectfully engage religiously diverse faculty, staff, and studentsDemonstrated understanding of the connection between the Jesuit mission and work for equity and inclusive excellenceExcellent and dynamic communication skills, to promote SU’s mission in multiple settings, contexts, and across diverse audiencesExperience in program implementation and assessmentPreferred qualifications:Graduate training in theology, pastoral ministry, higher education or spirituality.Five years experience in Jesuit educationWorking knowledge and experience leading programs related to Ignatian spirituality and Ignatian PedagogyExperience teaching and facilitating using an adult-learning modelBenefits at a GlanceConsistent with its fundamental Jesuits value, Seattle University offers a wide range of benefits designed to care for the whole person.
