This position maintains and controls the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records. Prepares and reviews balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports for tax reporting purposes. Responsibilities also include reconciling GL accounts, analyzing past costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict current and future revenues and expenses. Requires a bachelor’s degree in area of accounting or finance and a minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience as a staff accountant. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the accounting cycle.Essential Responsibilities Include, but Not Limited To:Review state and city tax payments for tax complianceReview company license and permit renewalsReview fixed asset and bank reconciliationsPerform and review general accounts analysis and reconciliationPerform and review activities related to month end close of the General LedgerAssist outside auditors at year-end to include preparing and reviewing schedules, invoices, providing explanation of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary dataLearn, understand, and review current accounting policies and procedures. Provide recommendations for improvements. Assist in implementing new policies and proceduresCross train with staff accountants and act as primary backup for their dutiesProvide support to divisional managementAssist in internal and external auditsAssist in administration of vendor rebate programResearch anomaliesAdditional special projects and tasks as assignedQualifications:Desired Experience, Skills, & Abilities:BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related major required.
