A growing start-up manufacturer in the Tri Cities, WA are looking for a Senior Manufacturing Cost Accountant. This is a new position for this growing company.

Reports to: VP of Operations

Location: Kennewick, WA

Position Summary:

The Senior Manufacturing Cost Accountant is a key role on the team as our client strives to reach its next level of accounting, finance, and operational excellence. The position will report to the VP of Operations. The primary role of the position will plan and implement a best-in-class manufacturing cost accounting system (the “System”). The System will be comprehensive. It will start with data on the manufacturing floor and feed to the highest-level financial reporting required. The position will assist with the constant improvement of accounting and financial reporting functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Review and improve the System to drive gross margin improvement

Integrate the System into the overall accounting and financial systems.

Analyze and improve cost standards for materials and labor.

Analyze production budgets, costs and make improvement recommendations.

Analyze manufacturing operations, equipment availability and utilization and make improvement recommendations.

Oversee annual and periodic physical inventory.

Analyze inventory values and suggest improvements.

Maintaining and improving cost account system and ledger.

Review and improve on month end cost accounting closing process.

Prepare COGs, production, inventory, and other key monthly reports.

Analyze variances and communicates explanations to management with recommended improvement actions.

Assist with overall profit improvement initiatives.

Assist with managing all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, G/L, Inventory/Cost Accounting and Revenue Recognition

Assist with hiring, training of cost and inventory accounting staff

Assist with month-end closing and the preparation of monthly financial statements and other operational reports.

Assist with estimating and verifying product costs to support quoting activities. Will work across the entire organization at all levels to achieve accounting excellence.

Collaborate with CEO, VP of Operations and accounting manager to explain accounting results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations and lead the development of complex analysis.
