Low Voltage Systems Designer

n n nn Low Voltage Systems Designer nn
– (20000564)n n n n n n SUMMARY: nThe Designer will be responsible for compiling, researching, and processing information to create complete, efficient, and cost-effective detail plans for field crews.n n ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: n Produces complete drawings and product data submittals for design team/AHJ approval, field installation, coordination with other sub-contractor trades and record.

Assists in the preparation of documentation requesting clarification of original design in the form of RFI’s and follow-up responses.

Performs verification and preparation of layout drawings to meet contract requirements.

Reads architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical floor plans, section and elevations.

Confers with engineer of record and project management staff to resolve problems and explaining drawings to production or construction teams and providing adjustments as necessary.

Produces and maintains system calculations on plans and riser diagrams.

Prepares and presents design documents to AHJ.

n n n n n n n REQUIREMENTS: n At least 2 years of CADD experience working with programs like AutoCAD and Revit (BIM); 3D modeling experience preferred, AutoCAD required.

Understanding of symbols and drafting conventions and standards related to telecom/security and other low voltage systems.

Solid working knowledge of Autodesk software; fluency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD MEP is preferred.

Detailed understanding of all facets of construction blueprints (architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and special systems).

Knowledge of 3D coordination with other trades.

Fluency in reading 2D and 3D plans, electronically or hard copy.

Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Bluebeam Revu and Outlook.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to type 30 words per minute minimum.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, this role may require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand to complete other administrative functions.

n WORKING ENVIRONMENT: n This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.
