Network Designer – Experienced Level

Job Description: Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking an experienced level Network Designer to support our Boeing Global SATCOM Services in Kent, WA. The primary role of this position is to ensure high availability of mission systems at a customer operations site. This position will work with an elite team of approximately ten IT professionals. The successful candidate should have the technical ability and tenacity to resolve incidents within a large satellite control data center partnering with engineers and operators from multiple companies and the U.S. Government. The Network Designer will be performing ITIL Tier 2 Mission Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support for satellite control mission systems. You will be part of a team providing in-depth troubleshooting, technical analysis and restoring systems to normal operational status. The mission systems include Network, Storage, and Database components. This position may be required to provide on-call support or 24×7 shifts, including weekends and holidays. No travel is required. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: – Identifies, analyzes and documents requirements for network transport technologies and services. – Creates and documents designs that conform to architectural and security standards. – Prepares, deploys and coordinates installation of implementation packages per Boeing standards. – Performs maintenance of network systems. – Collects and compiles data for budget planning. – Coordinates high level implementation planning for strategic multi-technology insertion projects. – Provides IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Tier 2 incident response for mission applications, system administration, network administration, and security administration. This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): – Experience working with a U.S. Government customer – Experience working in a Satellite Network Operations Center – Current COMPTIA Security+ certification – Experience as a Technical Teacher/Trainer PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): – Bachelors degree or higher in an Information Technology (IT) field – Experience with UNIX and/or Linux Shell scripting – Experience with Cisco Switching and Routing, CCNA – Experience with virtualization and building VMs – Experience working with databases and storage – Experience in web-based, client-side development XHTML, CSS, XML, JSON, JavaScript – Experience in vulnerability assessment, penetration testing or threat modeling TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience, 9 years’ related work experience, etc.). RELOCATION: This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
