Assistant/Associate Professor – Physical Therapy

Eastern Washington University

This is a Full-time position in Spokane, WA posted April 6, 2021.

The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Eastern Washington University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track faculty appointment at the Assistant or Associate professor level to begin August 2021. Position responsibilities include teaching, student advising, scholarship, and service to the university/community/profession. Qualified candidates with all areas of expertise are encouraged to apply. Candidates with expertise in musculoskeletal or acute care physical therapy are preferred. The DPT Program is located at EWU -Spokane, a primarily health sciences campus with state-of-the-art space and facilities. The campus sits next to downtown Spokane, and is within walking distance to trails along the Spokane River. Spokane is the heart of the Inland Northwest, with excellent restaurants, theaters, shopping, skiing, hiking, lakes, and high-quality schools and affordable housing. The Spokane campus is a satellite of EWU’s main campus in Cheney, WA. The DPT Program is 2 years 9 months in length, has 9 full-time faculty members, and admits 38 students each fall. Opportunities for summer teaching may be available. Faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning. Additionally, the candidate selected for this position may be expected to teach face-to-face classes, hybrid or blended classes and/or online classes according to the needs of the department. Preferred Qualifications Additional consideration may be given to candidates with one or more of the following: Academic doctoral degree (PhD, ScD, EdD) Expertise in Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy Expertise in Acute Care Physical Therapy 5 years clinical practice experience as a physical therapist Higher education teaching experience Established record of scholarship (publications, national presentations, grant funding) At least 3 years clinical practice experience as a physical therapist Current membership in the American Physical Therapy Association Current active service to the physical therapy profession Other Skills and Abilities Work Schedule Type Alternate Work Schedule Schedule will vary from semester to semester to fulfill position’s responsibilities.
