POSITION: Office & Facilities ManagerREPORTS TO: Chief Operating OfficerDEPARTMENT: OperationsSTATUS: ExemptPOSITION OVERVIEWTwinStrand Biosciences is a Seattle-based genomics company focused on developing cutting-edge approaches for early detection of cancer, treatment optimization, and risk prediction using our ultra-accurate Duplex Sequencing Technology. Our technology enables researchers and clinicians to detect genetic needles in a haystack. By identifying ultra-low frequency DNA mutations with a resolution 10,000-fold greater than conventional tools on the market, TwinStrand enables detection, quantification, and characterization of variants that were previously undetectable. We have recently closed a $50 million Series B financing and will continue our accelerated growth to make a difference in life sciences and medicine.We are seeking a highly motivated, independent contributor to join our Seattle-based team as an Office & Facilities Manager. You will bring your exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, discretion, diplomacy and a commitment to excellence to handle the day-to-day operational duties while ensuring impeccable communication and timely execution of tasks related to office operations. As a member of our Operations team you will work across all departments of the company providing necessary support and proactively identifying solutions that can improve the use of functional space at our headquarters. You will keep TwinStrands workspaces in top working order, maintain systems, add capacity for the company as it grows, and address issues with malfunctioning equipment and/or work with vendors and building management to schedule work orders. You will be a key liaison with the outside contractors, vendors and building management on a daily basis as well as be a part of a team on facility expansion and other capital project. You will also serve as the on-site Safety Officer and be responsible for emergency plans, safety equipment, and other workplace safety requirements.RESPONSIBILITIES* Drive on-site cohesion by keeping the spaces stocked, organized, and functioning optimally.* Assist HR and IT onboarding new employees with offices, desks, and materials, and ensure common spaces are optimized.* Participate in the purchasing and inventory management process for office supplies and materials, while always looking for ways to streamline and improve our workflows. Research discrepancies and resolve issues as they arise.* Collaborate with Finance and Legal on the relevant vendors and account agreement setup processes with an eye on details and a strong bias towards minimal interruption of TwinStrand endeavors.* Act as a point of contact for relevant suppliers and vendors, shipping companies and building management.* Develop and maintain on-site safety protocols and procedures, roll out safety training as needed, perform safety audits.* Hire, manage, provide professional development and performance management to an Office Assistant/Receptionist.* Work with HR to assist in orienting new employees and other company processes.* Improve ergonomics of work space, and organize it for safety and productivity.* Maintain resources such as generator, air filtration equipment, monitoring system, and safety items.* Be on a call for any on-site issues during off hours.* Assemble equipment and furnishings as needed and make work-ready.* Repair or replace equipment, tools, and materials as needed.* Proactively work with department leadership to move the business forward wherever you can assist: including identifying spaces for teams to work together, assist in scheduling of office spaces/conference rooms, ensuring safety equipment is stocked, accessible, and functional, and more.EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES* Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree (preferred).* Minimum of fifteen years of work experience, with at least four years of experience managing a professional office.* Knowledge of workplace safety best practices and OSHA requirements.* Prior biotech office manager experience, particularly at a startup, highly desirable.* Solid understanding of building sub-systems (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC) and an ability to troubleshoot common problems.* Basic bookkeeping and budget management experience is a plus.* Basic website management experience is a plus.* Have an outstanding track record of successful teamwork with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.* Vigorous and intent on taking a task to full completion.* Ability to multi-task while maintaining excellent attention to detail.PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS* Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.* Use of tools, including power tools for repairs and occasional assembly.* Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.* No travel is expected for this position.OUTSTANDING CANDIDATES WILL* Have completed a Safety Management Certificate program.* Be proficient in a variety of office software (email tools, spreadsheets, databases), equipment (phones, printer systems), and light tools (desk assembly, repair of small equipment, etc.).* Process-oriented thinker who is always looking to improve results and relationships.* Resourceful self-starter with the ability to work independently and quickly learn new skills.* Desire to work at a fast-paced startup company with ambitious goals and timelines.* Your friends would describe you as someone who just gets it done.* Subscribe to the idea of a place for everything and everything in its place.WHAT WE OFFER* A mission to be proud of.
