This is a Part-time position in Shelton, WA posted July 28, 2021.

Registered Nurse-Resource Nurse-This .9fte/Part-time position is typically 36 hours per week, 12 hour night shifts, variable days of the week, and is UFCW represented.

At Mason Health we offer an excellent benefit package, including a generous retirement contribution.The Resource RN provides skills-based specialty nursing support and services to a variety of departments, based on patient-care and staffing needs and as directed by the House Supervisor on Duty.

Works in partnership with other members of the health care team to provide quality, cost effective, patient-centered care.NOTE: although assigned to House Supervisors & staffing department.

Asthe home base department, this position supports the entire hospital and will float to other departments as needed.Duties and Responsibilities* 1.

Performs specific tasks and assignments as assigned by the House Supervisor on Duty.

Assignments may include, but are not limited to: performing admissions and discharges, providing meal and rest break coverage, providing coverage for absences or short-staffing situations, and performing skills-based specialty services, such as PICC line insertions, Cardiac Stress Testing, and Ultrasound Guided IV insertions.* 2.

Provides nursing care within established standards of care, hospital and unit policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Uses evidenced-based care standards throughout the nursing process.

Makes decisions reflecting knowledge of facts, knowledge of diseases/surgical conditions, care required, and good judgment.* 3.

Functions as a patient advocate.

Provides individualized patient and family-focused care throughout the patient’s stay and evaluates for effectiveness.* 4.

Accurately and effectively anticipates changes in patient care needs.

Communicates and documents changes in patient condition, on a timely basis, to charge nurse/supervisor and physician.* 5.

Participates in patient and family education as evidenced by teaching documentation with appropriate resources.* 6.

Initiates effective discharge and referral plans on admission utilizing appropriate hospital and community resources.* 7.

Assists other nursing team members through the steps of the nursing process.

Including but not limited to: admissions, discharges, and education.* 8.

Performs all aspects of patient care in a manner that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors; documents according to established standards; communicates effectively.* 9.

Develops and maintains professional and clinical skills.

Completes all annual competency and education requirements within established parameters and timeframes.

Participates in staff meetings, patient care meetings, educational in-services and other professional activities.

Maintains awareness of policies and procedures and performance standards.* 10.

Performs Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) insertions.* 11.

Accompanies patients when transferring between departments.* 12.

Assists with procedures (including Treadmill Stress Tests), surgical recoveries, and outpatient treatments13.

Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.* Essential Job FunctionOrganizational ResponsibilitiesIn addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, all employees are expected to support the Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics mission, vision and values; comply with District policies and procedures; and conduct themselves in an ethical, professional, respectful, and collaborative manner at all times.Required Education and Experience1.

Associate’s degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.2.

Three (3) years of acute care nursing experience required.

Experience in Emergency, Intensive Care, and Medical-Surgical preferred.3.

Experience using Electronic Medical Records, Cerner experience preferred.Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations1.

Current RN license in the state of Washington2.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification3.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 3 months of hire.4.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 3 months of hire.5.

Successful completion of PICC line insertion course within 3 months of hire.6.

Successful completion of Cardiac Stress Test training within 3 months of hire.7.

Pediatric Emergency Assessment and Response (PEARS) certification within 1 year of hire.8.

Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 1 year of hire.
