Medical Assistant Apprentice – Bainbridge Island

Virginia Mason

This is a Contract position in Bainbridge Island, WA posted April 7, 2021.

Job Number: 210964 Department: VM Bainbridge Island – Adult Primary Care Hours: Flexible If you have a passion for learning and want to move into patient care, our new Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program may be just what the doctor ordered. We’re proud to launch a fully paid, on-the-job training program that will prepare apprentices to become medical assistants-certified (MA-Cs). Best of all, you don’t need any prior clinical experience to enroll in the program – all you need is the desire to learn and grow your career. As part of the frontline care team, Medical Assistants are essential to providing great care to our patients. They help prepare patients for examination, measure vital signs, provide administrative support and work closely with doctors and nurses. As an apprenticeship MA you will gain on the job training to learn the skills and knowledge to become a Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C). Upon successful completion of the program you will be eligible to sit for the CCMA MA-C exam. The program will give you tools and resources needed to be able to successfully pass the exam. The year-long MA Apprenticeship is packed with hands-on training, clinical experience, mentoring and classroom/online education, similar to what you would experience at a community or technical college. But unlike those local college courses, our training program is offered free and Virginia Mason will pick up all the costs of training in exchange for an agreement to work here for two years after you obtain your MA-C designation. If you’re in a nonmedical job and are interested in working with patients, this is an incredible opportunity to consider. Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required and must be 18 years or older by Sept. 20, 2020. Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) as certified by the American Heart Association (AHA) (May be completed within the first 30 days of hire) Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English Proficiency in the use of computer programs and equipment utilized in a clinic setting (e.g., web-based EMR, web-based training platforms, general computer proficiency) External candidates are required to have one of the following: 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting OR Completed and passed a program approved by the Washington Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission (Certified Nursing Assistant), Running Start (B or better grade in a minimum of 4 healthcare related classes) AND 1 year of experience working in a customer service environment. Just as Virginia Mason is dedicated to improving the lives of our patients and our community, we are equally dedicated to your professional and personal success. With a wide range of perks that includes comprehensive compensation and benefits, continuing education and support, and the opportunity to live in one of the most livable cities in the country, you will find that an opportunity with Virginia Mason is one worth taking. We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
