Experience must have provided a basic knowledge of:* Pharmaceutical nomenclature;* Characteristics, strengths, and dosage forms of pharmaceuticals;* Pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures; and the* Variety of procedures and techniques involved in the care, storage, repackaging, bulk compounding, and distribution of pharmaceuticals.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:For Grade GS-05:* Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience must be related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service. Examples include: Reconstitutes certain sterile medications which are to be added to intravenous solutions; Receives and fills ward and clinic drug supply orders for a wide variety of items stocked in the pharmacy; bulk compounds, packages, and labels complex products, mix ingredients in proper sequence, and carry out other necessary procedures subject only to a final check of the product by the pharmacist. Compounds and bottles sterile solutions, such as irrigating and saline solutions. Set up those individual prescription orders for items that are frequently prescribed and are already repackaged and labeled;* OR* Possession of completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree with major study in pharmacy, or that included at least 24 semester hours in pharmacy-related courses;* OR* I have successfully completed pertinent specialized training courses in pharmaceutical and pharmacy practices while serving in the Armed Forces which is creditable on a month-for-month basis up to the 1 year of specialized experience;* OR* Possession of a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-05 grade level.For Grade GS-06:* Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. The work at this level require application of an extensive knowledge of pharmaceuticals and pharmacy practices and apply judgment based on substantial experience in the pharmacy. Example of work at this level include: Filling prescriptions utilizing automated dispensing equipment; distributing pharmaceuticals; utilizing pharmacy based computer systems; working with insurance claims to bill for pharmaceuticals and resolve any billing issues; and performing pharmaceutical procurement and inventory management.* OR* Possession of completion of 6 months (9 semester hours) of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position.* OR* Possession of a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-06 grade levelSelective Placement Factor for Grade Level GS-06In addition to the minimum requirements, the following certification is determined to be essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position at the full performance level of grade GS-06.
