Senior Associate Scientist, Cell Therapy Receptor Engineering

Position Summary We are seeking a new member of our Receptor Engineering team within Bristol Myers Squibbs Immuno-Oncology and Cell Therapy research organization.

This member will work primarily to discover new chimeric antigen receptors, T-cell receptors, and other engineered proteins to include in our cell-based cancer therapies.

We sit at the nexus of discovery, transforming ideas into physical components that will be incorporated into the next generation of cellular drug products.

Position Description This team member will sit within a highly collaborative group to shepherd projects, from initial conception, through design of engineered solutions, large-scale screens, and in-depth characterization.

The role will encompass a broad array of responsibilities to not only execute on discovery efforts but also develop and optimize our overall discovery process, often working at the intersection of biological engineering, immunology, cell biology, and molecular biology.

The ideal candidate will couple a solid experimental biology foundation with an enthusiasm to both design and test the next generation of cell therapy products.

An innate curiosity and motivation to push current scientific boundaries is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
– Devise, implement, and troubleshoot experiments to characterize the function of engineered cell therapy components within T-cell lines and primary T-cells.

– Carry out cell-based campaigns with a fastidious attention to detail.

– Seek to enhance laboratory throughput and experimental robustness.

– Analyze experimental data and communicate results to team members, project teams, and the broader research organization.

– Cultivate productive working relationships with colleagues.

– Record experimental details and maintain electronic laboratory notebook.

Qualifications & Experience
– Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or Master’s degree with experience in an immunology, biological engineering, cell, or molecular biology laboratory setting.

– Mammalian tissue culture experience, with both cell lines and primary cells, preferably primary T cells.

– Familiarity with standard cell biology techniques, including flow cytometry and gene delivery.

– Experience with laboratory automation is a plus.

– Highly organized in both laboratory execution and data analysis.

– Flexible in the face of a constantly evolving role and organization.

– Respectful of laboratory safety policies and practices.
