This is a Contract position in Selah, WA posted November 10, 2020.

We are looking for a Surgery Nurse Manager to lead services at several Virginia Mason Memorial sites.

More than 1,000 surgical procedures take place each month in the eight surgical suites on our main hospital campus, in two suites at our Ridgeview campus, and in four suites located at our ambulatory surgery center.

We offer in-patient procedures, a post-anesthesia care unit and same-day surgery along with supporting multiple procedure rooms serving several specialties.The successful candidate will be proficient in surgical operations and lead patient centered efforts supported through data driven decisions.

They will build teams through modeling humble, servant leadership in the pursuit of excellence.

Excellent problem solving and communication skills are essential.ROLE SUMMARYThe Surgery Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the department/unit.

The Nurse Manager supervises nursing services that are delivered to each patient in accordance with quality standards and serves as a role model to staff and other employees.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for the overall operation of the department/unit.Ensures the 24-hour staffing pattern for the unit meets the nursing needs of patients.

Provides 24hour accountability by assigning designated resources (Assistant Nurse Manager, shift coordinator, educator, RN) to cover and meet the unit and shift needs.Ensures nursing care follows the nursing process, acceptable Standards of Care and Standard of Practice and WAC’s.Reviews, oversees, and ensures complete and accurate recording of information necessary for meeting the patient’s needs and for legal documentation.Ensures proper utilization of policies, procedures, techniques, and equipment on the unit, through teaching, supervision and evaluation.Encourages staff participation in hospital committees and facilitates attendance.Encourages staff to use critical thinking in problem solving and decision making.Determines qualifications, competence, and requirements of department personnel in the selection of new employees and monitoring performance.Collaborates annually with staff and peers in the formation, review and/or revision of nursing leadership, unit goals and objectives.Approves timecards for each staff member assigned to unit cost center.Develops and monitors the unit’s yearly budget.Serves on appropriate hospital and Virginia Mason Memorial (VMM) committees.Acts as a hospital representative on community boards.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSEducation: Associate’s degree in nursing required; BSN preferred.Experience: Three years of nursing experience required.Licenses/Certificates/Registration: State of Washington (DOH) Registered Nurse licensure required.

American Heart Association BLS required.
