This includes administering policy, rules, laws, interpretation, reasonable accommodation, complaint resolution, leave administration, labor relations, performance management and corrective action, workplace violence assessment and response, training, developing service strategies, processes and programs that are responsive to the needs of administration, faculty, and staff to implement best human resources practices for employee relations, employment and related functions.Campus HR Operations and Services has an outstanding opportunity for a full time Human Resources Consultant (HRC) based in the University District in Seattle.Client areas include: School of Dentistry, School of Public Health, Department of Global Health, College of Education and Comparative Medicine.

Client assignments may be added or changed.The Human Resources Consultant will independently advise departments/employees based on in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and University rules and regulations and collective bargaining agreements on a range of human resources policies and procedures and administer all functions of Employee Relations; Performance Management, Complaints, Investigations, Grievances, Contract Interpretation for assigned client units.RESPONSIBILITIES:Performance Management & Corrective Action
– Provide consultative advice and educate clients regarding performance management and corrective action.Complaint Resolution
– Provide information to employees regarding complaint resolution options.

Provide guidance to managers and supervisors responding to employee complaints.

Conduct, or assist managers with, investigations to resolve allegations and work with parties to effect resolution of employee complaints or concerns.

Negotiate settlements and prepare settlement agreements.Leave Administration & Accommodations
– Provide consultative advice on leave administration.

Advise clients regarding the provisions of laws and rules governing various types of leave use, including the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

Ensure compliance with institutional policy, with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Washington state law and respond to requests for reasonable accommodation including the coordination of accommodation requests.

Advise employees and supervisors regarding institutional procedures.Policy, Rule and Law Interpretation
– Evaluate organizational practices for compliance with laws, rules and policies.

As necessary, develop HR practice recommendations that comply with regulatory requirements while meeting or maintaining operational needs.

Develop implementation strategies that maintain continuity of operations.Workplace violence
– Provide counsel, assistance, and training to client departments in prevention of, and response to, workplace violence, including assessment and case management.Training
– Conduct formal and informal training sessions regarding a variety of HR topics.Labor Relations
– Educate and inform managers and supervisors regarding the interpretation and application of labor agreements.

Assist in responding to and resolving employee grievances.

May participate on contract negotiation teams.REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree preferably in Human Resources or a related field, and at least four years of increasingly responsible senior human resources experience.

Excellent analytical, written and oral communications skills, and technical proficiency using word processing, email, and the internet is essential.Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.DESIRED:Knowledge of the State & Federal Employment Laws.

Experience working in human resources in a higher education institution.
