Human Resources Manager, Team Services

Metropolitan Market

This is a Full-time position in Seattle, WA posted February 8, 2021.

n nn Job Summary: This position assumes a key role leading Human Resources (HR) Team Services in several functional areas, including regulatory compliance, employee relations, and labor relations.

Works closely with the Vice President, Human Resources (VPHR) to foster, strengthen, and safeguard the Company’s Mission and Guiding Principles.

Acts as a management liaison for payroll, benefits, and leaves.

Leads HR Team Services group including HR Administrator and HR Representative positions.n nn nn nn nn Key Responsibilities: nn nnResponsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:nn n nn nn Oversees HR Team Services group that administers policies, procedures, and protocols for all HR core competencies.

Relentless about gatekeeping to ensure the Company is in full compliance with policies, laws, and Collective Bargaining Agreements.

Leads the HR Team Services group in managing the day-to-day activities to support HR, forms/materials management, payroll, benefits, leaves, and other interrelated functions.

Maintains in-depth knowledge of state, federal, and local employment laws and regulations; acts as a subject matter expert to provide guidance on interpretation.

Reviews regularly policies and procedures to ensure they are legally compliant; recommends updates and additions as needed.

Oversees the quality and correctness of personnel paperwork, including but not limited to those forms associated with new hires, status changes, terminations, policy acknowledgements, and performance management.

Ensures personnel documents are filed correctly and that records are retained according to retention requirements.

Assists with the creation, implementation, maintenance, and development of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).

Acts as a trusted advisor for store leadership teams and team members.

Serves as a primary point of contact for employee relations issues.

Partners with leaders to facilitate resolutions when needed.

Consults and informs VPHR as appropriate.

Conducts fact finding phase of investigations for the VPHR, in accordance with the Company’s best practices.

Prepares written outcomes of investigative findings.

Provides assistance with grievances or arbitrations as assigned by the VPHR.

Coaches leaders on performance management concerns; participates in discussions with team members if appropriate.

Supervises HR Team Services group in accordance with the Company’s policies and HR practices; maintains a workplace conducive to a positive team member experience and exceptional business results.

Identifies opportunities for enhancement or improvement of processes/systems.

Communicates promptly to the VPHR.

Recommends/implements solutions as appropriate.

Actively participates in the progression of the Company; provides leadership in support of company initiatives and objectives.

Embodies company culture; promotes a work environment that reflects a service-oriented mindset, humility, and kindness.

Completes other projects/responsibilities as assigned by the VPHR.

n nn nn nn Skills and Qualifications: nn nnCandidates will be selected from applicants having the best combination of the following qualifications:nn n nn nn Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.

SPHR or PHR and/or SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP certification preferred.

Minimum seven years of experience working in HR performing high-level generalist responsibilities.

Solid knowledge of HR practices and policies.

Experience with employee issues and complaints, includes investigation, documentation, and resolution.

HR experience in unionized environment, including collective bargaining, a plus.

Minimum five years of supervisory experience with three or more direct reports.

Strong knowledge and understanding of state, federal, and local employment laws.

Strong computer skills and experience with HRIS system(s).

Exceptional at diplomacy.

Leads with both competence and humility.

Flexible, intellectually nimble, and resilient.

Able to pivot on the spot and think creatively.

Curious and solution-oriented thinker.

Proven ability to influence and partner with different levels of the organization to achieve results.

Experience working directly with people from diverse backgrounds.
