Boeing Defense, Space and Security is seeking an Experienced Spacecraft System Reliability Engineer in the Puget Sound in support of multiple Phantom Works programs.
The position provides an opportunity to work with an experienced, interdisciplinary team to develop unique systems to meet challenging requirements on dynamic development programs.The selected candidate will work closely with other engineering disciplines to quantify and improve the probability of mission success throughout the development of next-generation technologies in space.
Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.
This position requires excellent teamwork and written/oral communications skills to effectively collaborate with engineering disciplines, suppliers and customers.Position Responsibilities:Work closely with other engineering disciplines in an integrated team environment while managing all aspects of reliability for a space system.Develop, validate, and decompose verifiable reliability requirements that meet high level customer reliability, availability, and life requirements.Work closely with other engineering disciplines to verify reliability and availability requirements for systems though analyses such as, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and limited life item analysis for system, sub-system, functional (electrical/mechanical), component and device level.Provide quantitative reliability inputs to trade studies based on reliability theory, including the impacts of the selected technology, applied stresses, quality, redundancy, temperature, wear-out, and environmental impacts such as destructive single event effects (SEE) and micrometeoroid orbital debris (MMOD).Review supplier submitted reliability analyses for technical accuracy.Present reliability plans and results at design reviews as the System Reliability Engineering focalThis position requires an active Top Secret U.S.

Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Minimum BS degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or related technical course of study10 years or more of Reliability Engineering experience on aerospace platforms or similar highly regulated productsPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Experience with spacecraft and/or space systems architectureExperience utilizing Model Based Engineering (MBE) or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) toolsExperience with agile development processes and methods including project management tools such as JIRA and ConfluenceExperience working with requirements development in Rational DOORSExperience with software tools such as Windchill Quality Solutions (WQS), Reliasoft, and/or Mathematica.Experience working across multiple disciplines in a rapid development environmentKnowledge of Parts, Materials and Processes related to Electrical, Electronic, Electro-mechanical, Electro-optical commodities.
Knowledge of reliability, failure modes, failure analysis and techniques, screening and qualification, and electrical stress derating.Experience analyzing reliability using data and statistical methods, including selection of appropriate probability distributions based on the data and reliability theory (such as exponential distribution, normal distribution, lognormal distribution, Weibull distribution)Prior history working in a classified environmentSSBI investigation highly desiredTypical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.G.
Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.G.
PhD+9 years’ related work experience, Master+12 years’ related work experience).
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Relocation:This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
