Engineering Network Technician (OpenStack)

This is a Contract position in Liberty Lake, WA posted June 2, 2021.

Engineering Network Technician (OpenStack experience preferred)

6 Months in duration initially with a chance to extend another 3-6 months based on need and this is an onsite role in Liberty Lake, Washington.

Summary of this open role:

  • Assist the Hardware Lab Team in Installation, Maintenance and Repair of new and existing Network HW.
  • A successful candidate will participate with the Engineering Infrastructure Team on maintaining existing infrastructure, performing upgrades, new equipment installations and resolving network issues. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting and performing rework of failing HW. Candidate will be expected to have good HW engineering debug and technician skills and be familiar with network architectures.

 

To qualify for this role:

 

  • Electrical Engineering or IT background along with 7 years of professional experience. 
  • Background experience should include troubleshooting, installing, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading networking equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, access points, etc.) (or equivalent overall experience) highly desirable.
  • Networking certifications a plus (e.g., COMPTIA Network+, CCNA, etc.)
  • OpenStack certification a plus (COA)
  • Hands-on debug of networking equipment.
  • Linux and Ethernet networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSH, Telnet, SCP, HTTP(S), SSL, LACP, STP, VLANs, and routing protocols highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical design schematics.
  • Some prototyping and rework skills, including surface mount rework on printed circuit assemblies.
  • Experience with single and multi-mode fiber, short- and long-range transceivers, and SFP28 and QSFP28 desirable.
  • Experience with Python and Bash, Gitlab, Pycharm, Bugzilla, TestRail, Confluence, JSON, YAML desirable.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, VMware, and/or other virtualization technology desirable.
