Strategic Sourcing Manager (Technology, Store Development, Store Operations)

Job DescriptionThe Strategic Sourcing Manager role contributes to Nordstrom’s success by developing and leading sourcing strategies, managing suppliers and internal networks to deliver best in class performance for the relevant spend area. It delivers measurable and strategic goals to enable a competitive advantage to bottom-line and top-line company growth, and corporate social responsibility leadership. Collaborates internally at all levels and with suppliers. Develops effective multi-year negotiation strategies to enable success. Manages a strategic spend of up to $100MM plus depending upon market complexity.We are currently hiring for several roles supporting the following categories: Technology, Store Development & Visual Merchandising, Store Operations & Asset Protection, and Store Development Services.A day in the life…* Analyze highly complex data and market industry information from multiple sources to develop strategic sourcing recommendations.* Identify unique sources for data and information to leverage in category strategy and influencing.* Conduct opportunity assessments, benchmarking, cost modeling and root cause analysis to develop sourcing recommendations.* Collaborate effectively internally and with suppliers to gather data and develop analytical insights.* Consistently deliver measurable and strategic goals to enable a competitive advantage to bottom-line and top-line company growth, and corporate social responsibility leadership.* Develop effective multiyear sourcing and negotiation strategies to enable success.* Lead using demonstrated and proven experience and the application of best practice sourcing skills.* Lead complex, cross functional sourcing projects. Develop and execute sourcing strategies. Identify and capture cost savings and operational improvement opportunities.* Employ strong knowledge of key industry players, competitors and market dynamics.* Develop new effective business and professional relationships with strategic suppliers and industry players.* Professionally manage and measure suppliers for continuous performance and improvement via contracting and compliance, business reviews and performance management.* Employ advanced program and project management tools, solutions and techniques.* Independently solve problems and make decisions for primary and strategic execution and tactical issues within the relevant portfolio of projects and or processes.You own this if you have…* A Bachelor’s Degree in an accounting, business, engineering, supply chain, or related discipline preferred* 6+ years of experience with procurement analytics and sourcing, preferably in a high growth, retail/manufacturing/technology company* Advanced analytical skills, adept in business planning, financial management, and budget management* Strong knowledge of external market analysis, macro-economic drivers, sourcing category strategy, supplier relationship management, strategic vendor alliance programs, ‘should-cost’ models, and multi-year negotiation strategies, supplier continuous improvement programs/Lean Initiatives* Knowledge of critical procurement legal requirements and contracting best practices* Knowledge of business ethics and Nordstrom Ethical Sourcing Requirements; strong sense of accountability and integrity* Exceptional ability to influence at more senior levels both internally and externally* Exceptional communication both written and oral* Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office, advanced to expert knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint, experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems* Experience with spend analytics and visualization programs, RFx programs, as well as source to pay or procure to pay technologiesCore Competencies:* Customer Focus: Builds strong customer relationships and delivers customer-centric solutions.* Drives Results: Persists in accomplishing objectives, even under tough circumstances.
