Optum: Data Systems Programmer


This is a Full-time position in Tacoma, WA posted January 31, 2021.

JOB SUMMARY The Data Systems Programmer is responsible for aggregating various data sources and developing actionable reports and dashboards.

This position will work cross-functionally to identify data collection gaps and opportunities.

We are looking for someone with a strong attention to detail, excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.

The person must be a team player and excel in a starts-up like work environment with focus on development and support of new data products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Extract, load, model, design, and reconcile large amounts of data across multiple system platforms and sourcesDevelop ETL processes and analytics including reports, dashboards, and data visualizations, and automate themWork with customers in requirement gathering, testing, training, and supportElevate issues, trends, areas for improvement and opportunities; report findings to managementConduct gap analysis and data validation, identifying possible issues in data submissionAssist with implementing Risk Adjustment and Quality measure reporting and analytic solutionsDocument and support best practices in data product development and adhere to HIPAA, Privacy and Security guidelines KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Intermediate-level knowledge of MS SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, SSRSIntermediate-level knowledge ASP.Net, C# or VB.Net a plusAbility to learn and use new tools and technology to create and support new data products ETLs, reports, dashboards, and visualizationFamiliarity with Data Modeling and Warehousing, and data visualizationFamiliarity with Medical Coding, Medicare Advantage program, risk adjustment methodology and HEDIS measuresUnderstanding of Membership, Claim, Rx, Provider, Capitation and CMS Risk Score dataExcellent analytical and collaboration skills to work with internal and external teamsPositive, self-motivated individual who can work on multiple tasks and complete them independentlyAbility to take initiative, handle complex situations, ask questions, stay calm, and find solutionsSuperior communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of organizationWorking Knowledge of Microsoft Office products MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience in Information Technology and Health Insurance Experience: 5 years’ experience in data systems programing or related field EQUIPMENT USED Office equipment, computer MENTAL & PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS Mental Effort: Must be able to work effectively as a member of NPN team; work is detailed and complex with multiple competing priorities, deadlines and internal and external customers Physical Requirements: Work is primarily in office environment requiring ability to see and hear and communicate Working Conditions: Work may be required outside normal business hours The job description does not constitute a written or implied contract of employment.
