We are looking for an innovative Entry Level Mechanical System and Design and Analysis Engineer located in Everett, WA, who wants to perform challenging, interesting and dynamic work as a member of the BCA Airplane Systems Environmental Control Systems Team.  This team supports all Boeing models both in development and in airline service.  These models include programs such as the 737MAX, 747-8, 767/KC-46A Tanker, 777/777F, 787, the B-52 Engine Replacement, VC-25B Presidential Aircraft, the new generation 777X, and the next, derivative and all-new airplane(s) that are currently in early developmental stages.

Primary Responsibilities:

Duties will include one or more of the following:

  • Working within the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Environmental Control Systems (ECS) organization to develop, produce, deliver and support customers who fly Boeing airplanes.  Enable high aircraft performance while operating in compliance with regulatory (FAA, EASA, etc) requirements.
  • Exercising strong project management skills to independently execute a variety of projects to completion.
  • Utilizing the Boeing Problem Solving Method (BPSM) to investigate the root cause of problems faced both during development and in-service by our customers who use our products.  Implementing corrective action plans and driving these to closure in a timely manner.
  • Collaborating with other organizations such as Aerodynamics Performance and Stability & Control, Structures, Flight Deck Crew Operations, Pilots, Electrical Systems, Systems Stress, Customer Services & Airline Customers, Factory and Flight Line Operations, Supply Chain, Airplane Safety and many others.
  • Working directly with the primary suppliers of airplane components and systems.  This work includes resolving a variety of issues and implementing improvement programs.
  • Learning about legacy development processes and certification Methods of Compliance while actively helping transition Boeing to leverage Model-Based Engineering (MBE)/Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology to write requirements, architect/size/validate/verify conceptual systems.
  • Shipside Support for Factory, Support Factory emergent issues

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates with the following qualities, skills and experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a related engineering field.  The engineering degree must be from a program of an accredited institution with ABET preferred, although not required.
  • You are curious, innovative and proactive and have excellent interpersonal skills
  • You have strong project management and organization skills.
  • You are driven, take joy and pride in your work and have a demonstrated ability to manage your time and work independently.
  • Experience with (or a desire to learn and/or be conversant with) Agile project management techniques is preferred.
  • You have an interest in learning to perform and/or utilize complex data analysis techniques.

Preferred (Desired) Qualifications:

  • Experience with (or a desire to learn and/or be conversant with) the following tools is a plus: CATIA (CAD/CAM), ENOVIA, PDM, IVT, Matlab/Simulink, Scripting code (Matlab, C++, Fortran) and Python
  • Proficiency in standard business tools and scripting languages is an important requirement.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

The applicant must have good communication skills, an ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, fit well within a team and be willing to expand into technical areas without prior experience.  Course work and experience in one or more of the areas of controls/mechanical systems/aerodynamics/fluids/thermodynamics/thermal sciences is desired.

  • The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a ?U.S. Person? as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. ?U.S. Person? includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
