Senior SQL Database Administrator

THE OPPORTUNITY: You will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of essential SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and performance of our corporate applications. You will manage daily database administration activities such as monitoring, configuring SQL clusters, backups, restores, performance tuning, and problem resolution. You will report to the Vice President of Corporate Systems. THE DAY-TO-DAY: * Provide off-hours production support including weekends * Administer and monitor existing enterprise databases and the and perform the analysis, design, and creation of new databases * Be responsible for security administration, adding and removing users, auditing, and checking for security breaches * Execute High Availability/Disaster Recovery strategy and monitor SQL backup plans * Partner with Systems Administration to monitor the hardware server performance for our database servers * Analyze the data stored in the database and make recommendations relating to performance and efficiency of queries against the data * Assist developers with fine-tuning their queries and proactively monitor production databases for potential performance issues YOUR QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in computer science, information systems or a related engineering field * 5 years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator * 3 years of experience performing troubleshooting in SQL server database * 3 years of experience programming in T-SQL and SSIS SQL server languages * 3 years of experience administering databases with SQL profiler, DB analyzer, Ignite, or equivalent * 3 years of experience supporting databases in a 247 environment * 3 years of experience designing and implementing SQL DR solutions * 3 years of experience designing SQL servers and databases to confirm or enterprise standards WHY FISHER INVESTMENTS: At Fisher Investments, we work for a bigger purpose: bettering the investment universe.
