Research Coordinator I – Clinical Trials Research

Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Research Coordinator I (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Clinical Trials Research at Swedish Research in Seattle, WA.

Independently coordinates research and administrative tasks in support of one or more research studies.

Works with study investigators and supervisor to address study-related issues.

Backs up other coordinators as needed.

Supports department financial performance through budgeting, billing and as directed.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

May transport investigational medications and devices

Maintain study supplies and equipment in accordance with protocol and SMC policies and procedures

Ensure proper storage and shipment of biological specimens in accordance with local and federal regulations

Perform study procedure tasks as assigned and maintains knowledge of protocol requirements

Register patients to studies and monitors compliance

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

Bachelor’s Degree in Science, healthcare, or other related field
– or
– equivalent educ/experience

One (1) year basic knowledge of FDA research policies, other applicable federal regulations and/or GCP guidelines.

Working knowledge of computers, standard office software packages (Word, WordPerfect, Lotus, Excel, Access, Power Point, etc.), and standard office equipment (photocopiers, facsimiles, telephones, pagers, etc.)

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Well-versed in medical and scientific terminology.

Familiar with medical records departments and information.

Understanding/knowledge of basic human anatomy and physiology.

Familiar with research protocols and standard study requirements.

Detail-oriented and able to work independently.

Diplomatic with a positive attitude and customer service orientation.

Able to perform multiple tasks at any one time, set priorities and manage time effectively.

Working knowledge of Windows based computer skills and ability to learn various computer applications.

Able to work with high level professionals in both medical and administrative areas.

Able to work with diverse patient population.

Ability to develop and maintain good and respectful working relationships with peers, other staff members, patients, family members and others outside the medical center.

Preferred qualification for this position include:
Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) or similar professional research certification

SCRI supports and administers research activities throughout the six Swedish campus locations.

SCRI is one of the leading clinical trial sites in the western United States, and at any given time, there are more than 600 research studies being conducted by Swedish-affiliated clinicians and other investigators.

In addition to participating in major federally funded programs Swedish physicians are involved in research studies of new treatment approaches for everything from Coronary-Artery disease to Cancer to Multiple Sclerosis.

To support this work, Swedish employs numerous research staff including coordinators, scientists, and research nurses.
