The Computational Photography group in Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) brings together a world-class R&D team of researchers, and engineers to build innovative photo, video, and AR/VR experiences.

We work on technologies that ship across all Facebook surfaces ranging from Facebook to Instagram to the AR/VR Oculus products.

We work at the intersection of Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, and ML.

The aim of this role is to develop and advance the state-of-the-art in computational photography.

The goal of the internship is both to create a publishable research project and contribute to new methodologies that can be experienced by billions around the globe.nn nnResearch Intern, Computational Photography (PhD) Responsibilitiesnn nnResearch, develop and prototype advanced technologies in the domain of computer vision, computer graphics, and machine learning.nn nnAnalyze and improve efficiency, accuracy, scalability and stability of currently deployed systems Collaborate with team members throughout the lifetime of a project, from prototyping to deployed products.nn nnDeliver research results that are both publishable and have a direct impact on Facebook and/or Oculus products.nn nnMinimum Qualificationsnn nnCurrently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.nn nn1+ year of experiences in one or more areas of Computer Science, such as Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Computer Graphics, Image Processing, and Computational Photography.nn nnProven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as co-authored publications at top-tier conferences such as CVPR/ECCV/ICCV, SIGGRAPH (Asia), NeurIPS/ICLR/ICML, etc.nn nn2+ years of experiences in modern C++ and/or Python.nn nn1+ year of experiences with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.nn nnMust obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.nn nnPreferred Qualificationsnn nnIntent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op.nn nnStrong communication skills and ability to convey research ideas to a broad audience.nn nnBroad understanding of the full machine vision pipeline from sensors to high-level algorithms.nn nnRelevant research or software engineering work experiences, including internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g.

GitHub).nn
