Warehouse Assistant:

We have a warehouse Assistant 1 position we’ re looking to fill.

  • $14.50 – 15.50/hour
  • Temporary
  • M-F 1st  shift

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic 1 is responsible for efficiently and safely making a variety of machine repairs in the facility and completing required preventative maintenance tasks. This person may guide technicians, vendors and hourly facilities employees on projects such as machine movement and complex tear downs. Maintenance mechanic duties include not only repair work, but also diagnosing the source of a production problem with a line, process or heavy machinery. Maintenance mechanics inspect the product, diagnose the problem and then perform the necessary repairs in a variety of settings. The Maintenance Mechanic is generally seen as highly knowledgeable on machine repair but tasks may vary widely throughout the locations.

REQUIRED:

High School Diploma or GED
6+ years facilities and maintenance experience in manufacturing
Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic components and procedures
Ability to read blueprints or building drawings
Intermediate computer skills
Ability to pass drug screen and background check
Ability to stand and walk up to 100% of shift
Eligible to work in an ITAR environment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Completes variety of complex repairs and pm tasks as assigned by the Facilities Manager or supervisor.
  2. Troubleshoots all process and facilities related equipment in regards to electrical and mechanical problems. May explain repairs to Maintenance Assistants or vendors.
  3. Overtime and weekend work is occasionally required for machine repairs and installations so ability to work independently without direct supervisor is required.
  4. Completes assigned monthly maintenance for production and facilities equipment when requested.
  5. Manages several projects simultaneously without direct supervision.
  6. Maintains administrative and production maintenance requests, SAP and email is used daily.
  7. Assists facilities supervisor with coordinating any on site contractors, may serve as escort or guide work completed.
  8. Assists with building repairs such as painting, drywall, cleaning, polishing, and other repairs as assigned.
  9. Must perform 5S activities monthly; may assist other departments with duties.
  10. Works with all Managers, Engineers, and department supervisors on insuring all equipment is maintained and operational.
  11. Administer proper lock out tag out procedures for all repairs.
  12. Utilizes a wide variety of knowledge in engineering, electrical, hvac, water, plumbing, painting, and environmental activities.
  13. Observes: safety, environmental, ITAR, and P5S objectives at all times. May train other staff members and operators on these initiatives and asks as model for safe work procedures.
  14. Initiates purchase order for parts and machines in SAP.
  15. Troubleshoot and maintain engines, conveyors, electrical systems, CNC machinery, pneumatic tools and hydraulic equipment.
  16. Reports any safety problems immediately, may act to resolve other employee concerns. May serve on safety committee or participate in investigation.
  17. May be trained in the company forklift safety program.
  18. May use a wide variety of dimensional tools such as mics, calipers or other instruments to adjust machines or functional tools for machinists.
  19. Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, orders, repairs, observations and irregularities.

Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; E.G. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc, plus 6 years related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 0 subordinate supervisor(s) who supervise(s) a total of 0 employee(s). Supervises 0 non-supervisory employee(s). Departments supervised by this position include 0. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters and memos; Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers. Ability to perform these mathematical skills using money and other forms of measurement.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out simple multi-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with limited variables.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Under immediate supervision, performs general assignments of work, with periodic check of performance by supervisor.

PLANNING
Limited responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work operations.

DECISION MAKING
Performs work operations which permit infrequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and which would only affect the operating efficiency of the individual involved to a slight degree.

MENTAL DEMAND
Light mental demand. Operations requiring intermittent directed thinking to carry out predetermined procedure or sequence of operations of limited variability. Operations requiring intermittent attention to control machine or manual motions.

ANALYTICAL ABILITY / PROBLEM SOLVING
Moderately structured. Fairly broad activities using moderately structured procedures with only generally guided supervision. Interpolation of learned things in somewhat varied situations.

USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS
Occasional use of complex machines and equipment (desktop/laptop computer and software, road and production machines and equipment, etc.)

ACCURACY
Probable errors of internal scope should ordinarily be detected within the department or office in which they occur, but may affect the work of others within the unit, requiring additional expenditure of time to trace errors and make all necessary corrections. Errors would require a moderate amount of time to correct.
