21-95AGRICULTURAL WORKER, X8, Naches, H-2A This is an H-2A job order for apples This H-2A job opportunity is limited to qualified, available workers that are currently eligible to work in the United States, per federal regulation. Apple Harvest: The worker will hand harvest fruit from the ground and/ or utilizing a ladder. The worker will attach the harness, bucket or bag and pick low hanging fruit. The worker will pick according to grade, color and size by grasping fruit with their hands and removing it from the tree in a motion that will not harm buds on tree branches. The worker will carry the harness, bucket or bag of up to 60 lbs. and will place the fruit into lugs. Thinning: The worker will hand thin on a motorized platform, from the ground and/ or utilizing a ladder. The worker will use scissor like clippers to remove small fruit blossoms, buds and/ or identifiable fruit from within a cluster of other fruits. Training: The worker will hand train fruit trees from the ground and/ or utilizing a ladder. The worker will tie, tape or clip fruit tree limbs to wires; position limbs of fruit trees; shoot thin; remove suckers, thin clusters, position shoots, hedge or removeleaves. Pruning: The worker will hand prune trees from the ground and/ or utilizing a ladder. The worker will utilize hand shears, hand loppers, hand saws and other equipment. Workers will/may also: 1. Drive tractors 2. Spray and mix chemicals and fertilizers 3. Operate trucks to carry farm equipment, crops and farmworkers 4. Perform general repair of agricultural equipment 5. Pack crops into containers 6. Repair sprinklers on overhead cooling system. 7. Load and unload empty bins by hand and place in orchard. 8. Clean and maintain hand tools, such as pruning hooks, shears, and/or picking bags will be utilized. 9. Provide general labor to assist in clearing property, planting trees, building trellis, repair and spreading of composted material and any other labor considered necessary for the efficient structure of new orchard properties. 10. The Worker will care for young non-producing fruit trees including but not limited to weeding, hoeing, trunk painting, hand fertilizing and growth selection by hand and clipping 11. Care for/monitor trees during growing process- recognize tree disease such as of blighted branches in apple. 12. Farm clean up tasks to include picking up garbage around the orchard, removing old string and wire from trellis and orchard blocks, and other hand tasks. JOB REQUIREMENTS Must have at least three (3) monthsgeneral farm labor experience Ability to lift 60 lbs. HOURS/DAYS/SCHEDULE 7 hours per day, Monday through Friday, The contract period is from April 1, 2021to November 10, 2021. SALARY/WAGE/BENEFITS: No work will be performed at less than the AEWR of $16.34 per hour Fuji Apple Harvest-All Cultivations $20.00-$30.00 per bin (47”x47”x24.5”) or $15.83/hr. Gala Apple Harvest-All Cultivations $27.00-$28.00 per bin (47”x47”x24.5”) or $15.83/hr. Honeycrisp Apple Harvest-All Cultivations $29.36 per bin (47”x47”x24.5”)or $15.83/hr. Red Delicious Apple Harvest-All Cultivations$20.00-$22.00 per bin (47”x47”x24.5”)or $15.83/hr. Golden Delicious Apple Harvest-All Cultivations$24.50-$26.00 per bin (47”x47”x24.5”)or $15.83/hr. No work will be performed at less than the AEWR of $16.34 per hour The payroll period shall be bi-weekly. The employer will furnish, without charge, all tools, supplies and personal protective equipment required in the performance of the specified work. Employer provided housing/kitchen facilities are available for employees who are unable to reasonably return to their place of residence the same day. Transportation costs to the job site for domestic workers from outside the local commuting distance of the job site will be reimbursed by the employer after 50% of the contract period. In order to comply with the FLSA, the employer will advance any amount owed prior to the first paycheck. Workers who do not complete 50% of the contract will have the advance deducted from their final paycheck. Transportation costs from the job site to the workers home will be provided to those domestic workers that complete the entire contract period. Employer guarantees to offer employment for the hourly equivalent of 3/4 or 75% of the workdays of the work contract beginning with the first day of work.
