Manufacturing Engineer – Blow Molding

ABC Technologies’ core business as an Automotive Tier 1 supplier is in the Design, Development and Production of plastic automotive systems and components for OEMs worldwide.

THE OPPORTUNITY:The Manufacturing Engineer will coordinate and manage the installation of plant machinery and equipment and modify all related tooling, jigs, fixtures, as well as troubleshoot in pneumatics and hydraulics.

This candidate should have a strong technical background in the area of blow molding.

The right candidate will also understand and conduct process studies and make recommendations for temperature, material, mechanical and manual processes and systems to enhance manufacturing and maintenance efficiencies.

This person should be prepared to adhere to standard forms and procedures.In addition, he/she will assist with ongoing projects and the maintenance of tools, equipment, and machinery.

Responsibilities: WHAT YOU WILL DO: Strong understanding of process development and process equipment developmentKnowledge of blow molding Blow mold tooling design experienceLead projects with external vendors and take initiative in new equipment vendor identification.Understanding of TPS and Lean Manufacturing techniquesUnderstanding of GD The Manufacturing Engineer will design and acquire equipment, design safety guarding, troubleshoot ergonomic issues and provide solutions.Team technical lead resource for New Product Development projects.Support the design, improvement and fabrication of internally developed and purchased blow molding and auxiliary equipment.Key tasks include resolving issues related design and performance while working to maximize achieving project objectives.Develop work instructions for machines and operations as well as review and update and implement safety processes and work instructions to assure conformance to TS16949 standards.Promote team problem solving and productivity projects with operators, engineers, customers and management.

To seek out necessary information required to accomplish job responsibilities.Facilitate purchase of correct mold and ancillary toolingEstablish acceptance criteria for new mold projectsTo advise the Operations Manager of the design, build, delivery, etc.

Includes opportunities in infrastructure, end of line automation, packaging, and warehouse.Organize and manage manufacturing workflows and resources Optimize facility layouts, production lines, machine operations and network performance.Provide technical guidance and actively support the plants with processes not meeting expected efficiency & Quality resultsUnderstanding of statistical tools for evaluation of processesProvide guidance & support to the plant teams as technical problems occurResolve issues and delays in productionFind ways to reduce costs and maximize qualityDevelop standardized design criteria for all products Advanced knowledge of production machinery and processesRepair or redesign malfunctioning equipmentDirect and oversee the full lifecycle of a product’s manufacturing process, including design, construction, packaging and quality controlEducate, train, and supervise new employees on current manufacturing and workflow processesExperience using CAD (computer-aided design) and CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) software a major plus Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or related engineering fieldEngineering degree or 5 years Manufacturing Engineering experience within the automotive industry
