Manufacturing Specialist IV

nLIGHT

This is a Full-time position in Camas, WA posted May 11, 2021.

Headquartered in Vancouver, WA, nLIGHT employs over 1,000 people with operations in the U.S., China, and Finland.Enable next generation of diode lasers and fiber lasers through process development and supporting transition from concept to high volume manufacturing.

Drive continuous improvement activities in a manufacturing environment of released products, support production and coordinate effectively with a wide range of cross functional groups.

Be the first line of defense to address in-line product, process, and equipment issues.

This position includes troubleshooting of products and equipment in addition to preventative maintenance on process equipment.

This role may assist with operator training, performing engineering experiments, gathering data and reporting out.Experience: Employee is currently at MS IV level.Employee has basic AX skills and is able to navigate Work Order BOM and route for information.

Basic data entry with AX journal, for example transfer and count journals.Employee has experience with inventory control and can effectively track build times, component consumptions and their use in real time.Employee is in good standing with no current disciplinary records.Employee has good communication skills, both verbally and written as there will be high contact with Leads, Supervisors, Tech Specialists, Engineering staff, possibly Planners/Buyers.Qualifications:ITAR License required.

Citizen.Ability to work in cleanroom attire and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time including laser safety protective eyewear which is required.Ability to work between 0-20% of overtime as required to meet production output schedulesDemonstrated ability to think logically and critically.Ability to motivate others to meet demands established by the schedule.Good English communication skills, both verbal and written.Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with other cell and department personnel (Operations, Engineering, QA, etc.)Good dexterity and mechanical skills.Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), AX, MOM, Sharepoint.Ability to analyze and solve problems independently.Ability to work with others collaboratively.Strong organizational skills.Lean manufacturing and continual process improvement experience.Basic understanding of process flow, process equipment and tools and what impact they have on the product.Supportive of team/department/company goals and improvements.Meticulous attention to detail, highly organized and self-motivated.Builds are considered Engineering level and may have very limited documentation in place for the builds.

Note taking by employee is strongly encouraged during builds.Physical Requirements:Ability to stand/walk 8-12 hours per day.

Sitting reading, stooping, climbing ladders, hand and finger dexterity, clear speech, hearing/ listening reading and writing, basic math and analytical skills, judgement, problem solving and decision making; and lifting up to 35 lbs., computer and related equipment.nLIGHT is subject to US Export Control regulations.
