Aircraft Mechanic II (Powerplants) – 7216

This is a Contract position in Oak Harbor, WA posted December 1, 2020.

Task Description: Aircraft Mechanic II (23022) (Power Plants)Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.Skill and Knowledge: Shall have the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems and be able to perform general Organizational Level maintenance and possess one or more of the specialties of the assigned aircraft below:Power Plants, Fuel and Air Systems, and related Sub-SystemsMust be knowledgeable of technical directives, NAMP programs, and shall be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures.Aircraft Mechanic II shall have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy, and ensure adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.Possess a high degree of expertise in the control and coordination of aircraft maintenance.Thorough working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications.Working understanding of the aircraft and aircraft systems.Responsibility: Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives. Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.Task Requirements:Familiar with duties assigned to personnel within all work centers.Process Visual Information Display System/Maintenance Action Forms (VIDS/MAF) from aircrew or maintenance technicians in accordance with OPNAVINST 4790.2 Series, Navy, and Company Instructions.Performs aircraft maintenance functions of the Aircraft Organizational Level maintenance.Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance support for assigned EP-3/P-3 aircraft.Performs inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, surface finish removal, corrosion control, preservation/de-preservation servicesAircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic meansTroubleshoot malfunctions in anti-icing, engines, auxiliary power unit, and powerplant related systems.Use hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement and diagnostic equipment.Read and interpret manufacturers’ maintenance manuals, military technical manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, blueprints, manufacturers drawings, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged componentsPerform Pre/Post checks, fueling, and operation of support equipment, to include conditional/scheduled inspections and periodic maintenance support equipment.Detachment on-load and off-load.Flight Line operations/functions at detachment locations as required Confined space operations to include fuel cell entryPerform Low/High and APU power operationsAircraft launch and recoveryAircraft movementGeneral aircraft maintenancePerform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environmentPerform shift work and/or overtime as requiredOther duties and task as assigned.Preferred Qualifications:EP-3/P-3 Powerplant initial school or equivalent10 or more years experience as Aviation Machinist Mate (AD)Six or more years P-3 maintenance experienceP-3 Flight Engineer School and have earned NEC 8251, OR have completed P-3 Aircraft Engine Ground Turn School.Previously certified EP-3/P-3 Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) in one or all of the following skills, Powerplant, Corrosion, and LineAutomated Track and Balancing System (ATABS) Course (NATEC provides)Previous EP-3/P-3 Plane Captain & Plane HandlerFuel Cell RepairBasic Personal Qualifications:Attended Aviation Machinist Mate (AD) A School or equivalent.Five or more years P-3 maintenance experienceMust be able to work 1st or 2nd shift as required to support operationsMust be able to work flexible schedule Mon-Fri or Sun-Thur as required by the customerShall be able to travel in support of detachment operations as requiredMust be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and work on top of or below the aircraft.Must be able to use hand and power toolsMust have dexterity to handle small partsMust be eligible for a Common Access Card (CAC)Satisfactory completion National Agency Check Local Records Check and Credit (NACLC), and Access National Agency Check with written Inquires (ANACI) resulting in eligibility for a SECRET clearance shall be required of all employees Employment is contingent on a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contractEqual Opportunity Employer–minorities/females/veterans/individuals with disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity
