McCain Foods USA has an immediate opening for a Boiler & Refrigeration Operator/Mechanic in our Othello, Washington Facility.

Under the direction of the Boiler & Refrigeration Supervisor, the successful applicant will become part of the Engineering and Maintenance Team that provides the highest level of equipment reliability to sustain a large potato processing operation.

This position is well suited for a results-oriented team player, requiring minimal supervision of daily work activities, excellent communication skills and strong problem solving abilities.
Job Requirements:
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Strict adherence to all safety-related policies, rules, and regulations, along with the McCain Code of Conduct.

• Operate and maintain all ammonia refrigeration and steam plant equipment: which includes operation of Ammonia refrigeration compressors, condensers, pumps, water tube boiler, compressed air and ancillary equipment.

• Assist Production and Maintenance team members with achieving the goal to minimize equipment downtime that interrupts the production process.

• Maintains operating records for all designated steam and refrigeration equipment (coolers, freezers, water treatment systems, etc.).

• Complies with all state regulations regarding operation, safety and repair of all Boiler and associated facility equipment.

• Adhere to strict PSM program.

• Ability to calibrate Refrigeration/Boiler instruments and control valves

• Operates water treatment equipment, which includes water softeners, Reverse Osmosis, de-aerator and chemical feed equipment.

• Performs maintenance activities, required by law, such as boiler preparation for annual inspection, pressure vessel inspections, ammonia relief valve replacement, etc.

• Actively troubleshoot utility systems unplanned shutdowns, with the goal to minimize equipment downtime that interrupts production.

• Network with other members of the Maintenance team, work closely with Production supervision, driving support for Equipment Sustainability, and support corporate initiatives as required.

• Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, promote Environmental Awareness and energy/water conservation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

• 1+ years of Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration

• Ability to work in extreme temperatures ranging from -20 to 130 degrees

• Must have experience in start-up, operation, shutdown and maintenance of gas fired steam boilers and related equipment.

(If required, must be able to obtain an approved license in Boiler operation)

• Demonstrated ability to work on a variety of unrelated projects with a results-focused orientation, to think logically, and to have well developed problem-solving/troubleshooting skills.

• Proficient computer skills in programs such as MS Office

• Familiarity with the use of a structured CMMS, such as SAP PM.

• Reports the status of activities, in a written and verbal manner on a daily basis

• Understand and promote sound Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Programs

PREFERRED:

• Ability to become a Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator (CARO), through RETA within the first 18 months
– 2 two years of employment

• Proficient operation of a single stage anhydrous ammonia refrigeration system

• Experience working in a food manufacturing environment, and complying with food safety rules and regulations.
