FLUPSY Technician

We are excited to announce that the Jamestown Point Whitney Shellfish venture is seeking a FLUPSY Technician to join their team! This full-time position is responsible for the maintenance of the equipment and systems, as well as cleaning, feeding, harvesting, and inventorying.

As a FLUPSY Technician, you will:

Maintain cleanliness of shellfish bins and FLUPSY structure.
Sort shellfish by size and species.
Track and report inventory
Maintain company assets in good operational condition including pumps, motors, and various tools.
Adhere to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, and work practices
Perform additional duties as assigned.

What are the Required Qualifications for this position?

High School Diploma or equivalent required, courses in Life Sciences preferred
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Exceptional interpersonal skills including effective verbal and written communication
Must be able to work independently and within a team setting.
Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to multi-task.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
Ability to travel locally and regionally as assigned
Valid Driver’s License
Must be able to successfully pass criminal background investigation

What are the Preferred Qualifications for this position?

Maritime operations experience preferred
Systems maintenance experience preferred
Construction, electrical, and plumbing experience preferred
American Indian/Alaska Native preferences apply

What are the Physical Requirements and Working Conditions for this position?

Ability and willingness to endure harsh field conditions, work outside and on marine waters in various weather conditions, through all seasons
Must be able to swim
Must be available to work any shift (to include all hours, weekends, and/or holidays as job duties require)
Must be able to lift, push and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted
Physical ability to access all areas of the property applicable to your position
Must be able to withstand prolonged standing, sitting, walking, bending, climbing, squatting and twisting without restriction
Requires eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity; ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols; and ability to grasp and apply pressure to an object with the fingers and palm
Must have the ability to reach at or below/above shoulder level on a continuous basis
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment and maintain physical stamina, proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with customers, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines
