GIS Technician

Snoqualmie Indian Tribe

This is a Full-time position in Snoqualmie, WA posted April 29, 2021.

Description:
The SIT GIS Program is housed within the Environmental and Natural Resource Department and works on a wide breadth of projects in planning, land management, natural and cultural resources.

The program is growing its capacity to include ArcGIS Hub, Emergency Management and Health and Wellness in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The program is seeking a team oriented, self-starter who is comfortable processing, updating, and managing a variety of GIS data, maps and applications within the Esri ArcGIS Online platform.

The technician will work with the GIS Program Manager and GIS Coordinator to perform routine tasks such as database entry and management, acquiring and processing data, attributing metadata, digitizing CAD drawings, field data collection, as well as provide technical support for tribal membership and staff with accessing ArcGIS Hub, ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
Utilize various software packages and information from various sources (MS Excel, SQL and legal descriptions of land boundaries) to create GIS data for Tribal asset management as well as Emergency Management and Health and Wellness Departments.

Acquire, georeference, digitize and manage raster datasets; projects may include processing and hosting historical imagery for priority areas or digitizing documents such as CAD drawings Assist with data collection tasks including GPS data collection and drone flights Creation of GIS metadata Communicate, explain or teach GIS concepts to staff unfamiliar with GIS Assist membership and staff with portal login issues Fulfill assigned basic map requests using ArcGIS pro or ArcGIS Online; may include creating new or updating existing maps, web applications, map layers and GPS data and representation Exhibit professional behavior in interactions with other staff Work as a team member to maintain a respectful, courteous work environment Maintains regular and on-time attendance Other duties as assigned .

Required Qualifications
GIS certification or Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, planning, computer science, or closely related field with at least one year of GIS experience Experience with ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro software Desire to learn or build on experience with data acquisition, database entry and data management Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form Ability to work with a team, takes initiative, and communicates clearly with team members
Skills and Abilities

Desired Experience
Understanding of a wide variety of topics related to GIS technology and spatial data Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Familiarity with ArcGIS Hub and ArcGIS Enterprise Knowledge of and experience working with Pacific Northwest Tribes
Computer Skills
Must be proficient with computers and general office equipment.

Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience with SQL, Arcade, Python, HTML, CSS and/or Javascript a plus.

GIS certificate
Other Requirements
Must agree to be subject to the Tribe’s Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Policy to include pre-employment screening.

Must pass background check.

Additional Information
Compensation will be determined based on experience, starting at $24.08 per hour.

This is a temporary full-time position, expected end date June 9, 2022.
