Laboratory Technician I (Entry-level) – Eurofins Frontier Global Sciences – Fife, WA

Job Description This position is an entry level laboratory position.The lab technician performs a majority of sample homogenization, compositing, sample preparation of environmental samples for semi-volatile organic analysis.

The lab technician interprets and manages data using LIMS, ensuring that data meets all established QA/QC criteria and is made available to analysts within specified time frames.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrates and promotes the company vision Regular attendance and punctuality Identify and evaluate issues and explore continuous improvement initiatives.

Demonstrates proactive commitment and adherence to industry and company safety regulations and QA procedures Filters and preserves samples as appropriate Familiarity with established procedures, for the preparation and documentation of samples using EPA SW-846 methods 3510, 3546, and other methodologies.

Perform and interpret required QA/QC procedures; recommend, perform and document corrective actions and possible impacts to data quality.

Utilize computer software to prioritize work, track samples, acquire data, and store data to meet established deadlines.

Provide back-up assistance to other analysts and lab technicians when necessary Conduct review of sample preparation data including: checks for completeness, calculation accuracy, data interpretation and data quality objective coherence.

Ensures that the lab is maintained and kept clean Constructively problem-solve work issues with team members and other lab staff Provide feedback to Group Leader, Department Managers, Lab Director, Quality Assurance Officer and/or Project Managers about preparation issues Perform and interpret required QA/QC procedures; recommend, perform and document corrective actions and possible impacts to data quality.

Provide all documentation to Group Leader for peer and scientific review of data in a timely manner Manage inventory needs, assist in ordering of supplies, and maintain stock of all necessary components, supplies, standards and reagents Demonstrate proactive commitment and adherence to industry and company safety regulations and procedures Completes all training requirements and ensures they are fully documented and on file with Quality Assurance and Safety Officers.

Responsible for completion of regular training and DOC under the direction of Group Leader and QA department.

Perform all functions in support of and in compliance with all state and federal employee regulations.

Qualifications Basic Minimum Qualifications (BMQ): To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill or ability required.

Education/Experience (BMQ): A minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent; experience in an environmental lab is a plus, but not required.Preferred Associate’s degree or higher in a scientific field Additional preferences:
• Excellent problem solving skills, detail oriented, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, to prioritize tasks and work efficiently.

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to clearly explain technical issues to Project Managers and peers.

• Experience with LIMS software helpful.

• Willingness to put in overtime hours as necessary.

• Ability to perform basic math skills including multiplication, division and algebra
• Flexible and willing to help in other areas of laboratory as needed.

Additional Information Position is full-time, Monday-Friday with additional hours as needed.
