Quality Control and Assurance Technician (M-F 3:00pm- 11:30pm)

This is a Contract position in Lynden, WA posted February 28, 2021.

Job Summary: Reporting to the QA/QC Supervisor the Quality Control Technician is responsible for the administration of QC functions as they relate to product sampling and inspection of raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods, and in-process goods to achieve customer product specifications, as well as results analysis, documentation and general administrative duties. In addition, this position will carry the added responsibility of assisting in limited QA functions as they relate to batch production review, pest control, consumer complaints, initial GMP training, SOP review and updates. Job Requirements: Essential Functions: ●  Sample and inspect products:  raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods and in process goods.  Must perform regular sampling and inspecting as per the established SOPs. ●  Perform testing in the chemical lab and/or micro lab. ●  Interpret test results of all products to approve or reject materials and goods based on established specifications. ●  Understand and ensure the established SOPs are adhered to. ●  Ensure proper documentation is completed, filed and maintained. ●  Assist in resolving any production issues and product development. ●  Review batch production records ●  Initiate, investigate and document deviations. ●  Assist in initiating and executing change controls. ●  Assist in QA related ERP System updates. ●  Maintain pest control program ●  Assist in investigating consumer complaints. Inspection of consumer returns. ●  Provide basic GMP training to new and temporary employees. ●  Assist in SOP review and updates ●  Assist in performing performance qualifications to new and updated manufacturing lines as written. Minimum Qualifications: ●  Post-Secondary education in Food Science or food related field of study ●  Between 1 to 2 years of experience in the QA/QC environment along with lab testing experience ●  Knowledge of the natural health products industry is an asset ●  Experience in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certified environment is preferred Work Environment: May require working occasional overtime-flexibility of schedule as needed with short notice. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit at a computer, walk, reach overhead, stand, bend, and stoop throughout the workday. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
