If you have a background in materials science and characterization and love analyzing a wide variety of material properties, we may have the position for you.This position is M – F 8:30 am – 5:30 pm with possible overtime and weekends required.Responsibilities:*You will report to the Senior Manager, Materials and Processes Labs.*Conduct thermal analysis of metal and polymeric materials*Conduct spectroscopy on a wide variety of materials.*Work with chemicals and unknown materials*Operate thermal analysis equipment that includes DSC, TGA, STA, DIL, and DMA*Operate FTIR and Mass-Spectroscopy*Follow Laboratory Best Practices and 5S*Participate in proficiency testing*Observe all safety protocols.*Analyze results from tests and prepare reports.Qualifications:*Passion for our mission and vision: Millions of people living and working in space!*Strong organizational skills.*3+ years working in a material testing laboratory.*Basic engineering laboratory skills: weights and measures, chemical hygiene, materials safety planning, personal protective equipment, contamination control, job hazard analysis, and work instruction.*Strong written and personal computer skills.*Must be physically able to work with and around chemicals and other hazardous materials.*Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.*Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Desired:*BS-MSE in Materials Science and Engineering*Experience using Netzsch thermal analysis equipment*Experience with Opus and Nicolet spectroscopy analysis software.*Experience with Scanning Electron Microscopy*Knowledge of basic polymer chemistry and properties.*Familiarity with industry materials testing standards.*Familiarity with typical aerospace testing and quality processes (AS9100, FOD Control, Lean, 5S, etc.).*Knowledge of the types of materials and processes used to fabricate aerospace components.If you are interested in this job, please apply via the ‘apply now’ link provided.
