Maintenance Technician III

This is a Full-time position in Seattle, WA posted June 12, 2021.

Overview$21.79 – $32.68 DOE + SIGN-ON BONUS* An additional $2 will be added to certain positions that have direct contact with clients between now and June 30th 2021, additional information will be provided during interviewing process*This position provides support to the Catholic Community Services – King County (CCSKC) Maintenance Director, who oversees maintenance of the Randolph Carter Center (RCC), Kent Family Center, Federal Way Family Center, and 10+ facilities throughout King County. The Maintenance Tech III provides assistance with maintaining the interior and exterior of the buildings and respond to repair needs as they arise. They will provide assistance with maintenance projects at other sites as needed. Protective gear will be provided.This is a 40 hour/week position that provides benefits and a generous PTOResponsibilities* Performs painting of walls, doors, rooms, buildings, and other surfaces. Prepares and finishes surfaces by scraping, sanding, and using commercial paint removers, fills cracks and holes.* Applies paint, varnish, and other finishes.* Assembles, installs, repairs doors, walls, signs, desks, counters, shelves, shelf units, benches, frames, fences and stairways.* Assembles, adjusts, and repairs furniture. Moves furniture including those used for special events and activities. May assist in setting up multimedia systems for events.* Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.* Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose equipment malfunctions.* Performs light carpentry duties working with wood or metal.* Install drywall in maintenance applications.* Tape, mud, and finish drywall with professional results.* Paint windows, doors, walls, woodwork, plaster, drywall, and other parts of building structures.* Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment and utility systems.* Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.* Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers.* Record maintenance and repair work performed and the cost.* Willing and able to be on call after hours including weekends for building emergency facilities related calls.* Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.Physical and mental acuity:The requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.* Ability to understand custodial and maintenance manuals and apply the concepts.* Ability to assess maintenance emergencies and make judgments about appropriate immediate and longer-term responses.* Ability to observe safety rules.* Ability to drive a vehicle up to 20 feet in length.* Ability to climb ladders and work in high places.* Ability to walk, kneel, climb, stand, crouch, stoop, reach, push, pull and other related activities associated with maintenance work.* Ability to lift loads not normally exceeding 50 pounds.* Ability to occasionally lift up to 100 pounds together with a team member.* Ability to handwrite legibly.* Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and to plan, schedule and follow-through on projects.* Ability to work independently and as a team member.* Manual dexterity to handle tools, make small adjustments, etc.Qualifications* At least five years’ experience in facility operations, construction lead, or management of maintenance staff in large building.* Must have demonstrated skill and knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, painting, drywall installation and repair, electrical and lock systems.* Demonstrated experience with working independently, prioritizing work tasks, and following through with completion of tasks.* Ability to communicate effectively.* Strong customer service style with excellent listening skills and can-do attitude.* Proficiency in computers and ability to learn management software.* Experience working with diverse populations in residential setting.* Supports and uphold the mission, beliefs, and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services.* Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.* Has a valid Washington State Driver’s License and meets the conditions of the agency driving policy* Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services.* Support and contribute to a creative, collaborative and respectful environment that promotes teamwork.* Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.* Criminal history background checks are required prior to employment.SUBSTITUTE QUALIFICATIONS:* Certificate of completion from a technical college in plumbing and electrical systems.* Certificate of completion from a technical college in general building maintenance.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:* Experience performing general maintenance tasks at multiple locations.* Experience working with a diverse population in a residential environment.* Experience with customer service.* Experience with computers, including e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets* Ability to communicate in Spanish.
