Welding Technician

CSP offers employees the opportunity to join a leading edge company within the composite material industry and enjoy the benefits offered by a growing company in North America and internationally.We are seeking a Welding Technician for our CSP Stamping Plant in Manchester, Michigan.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Set up and operate resistance spot welding machines which includes loading parts into the build fixtures, engaging the machine and running the weld cycle.Constantly monitor the process to make sure the proper weld is produced.

Inspects welded joints and conducts tests to ensure welds meet company standards, national code requirements, and customer job specifications.Performs basic welding technology troubleshooting (i.e., resistance spot welding applications, weld tip inspection, tip force, shunt cable inspection/replacement, etc.)Inspect and replace GMAW components (i.e., nozzle, tip, diffusers, goose necks, welding torches, etc.)Basic mechanical skills, knowledge of fitting parts up to assembly drawings.Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.Removal of rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.Welding associates are responsible for dressing, changing, spacing, and adjusting welding tips, and ensuring a high quality of weld by complying with standard work guidelines, process instructions and print specificationsProgram welders with setup procedures.

Perform push out and torque test.

Study blueprints or sketches.Accurately figuring out the scope of work.Measure dimensions of the part being welded.Accurately completes all production paperwork including job cards and tally sheets.Boxes and labels finished parts.Keeps work area orderly and clean.Takes individual responsibility for all aspects of part quality to provide CSP with the product that conforms to both quality and function requirements.Submits ideas to promote continuous improvement, emphasizing defect prevention, and the reduction of variation and waste.Uses and follows procedures and work instructions pertinent to tasks assigned.Takes individual responsibility for housekeeping in the specific work area and generally throughout the facility.A physical presence is required at the plant and/or office location(s).Supports and exemplifies corporate values and commitment to quality, optimism, ownership, teamwork, and communicationMaintain a safe and clean work environment by following 5S, safety, and environmental standards.Responsible for quality of part produced per the operator instructions.Know, understand, utilize and follow IATF 16949 and/or ISO 14001 procedures.Attention to details related to customer specific requirements.Support continual improvement initiatives and look for continuous improvement ideas.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:Know about resistance welding, robotic welding, MiG welding, and tig welding.Need to know how to perform a push out and torque test.Know how to program welders.One to three years of resistance or projection welding.Have strength, stamina, and heavy lifting and be able to stay in one space for prolonged periods.Be able to work on many types of metals: steel, aluminum, stainless steel, copper, and more.Ability to perform cleaning of weld fixturesAbility to understand and follow the process, prints, and work instructionsKnowledge of automated robotic weld cell, pneumatic valves, proximity sensors, pneumatic clamps and cylinders, M.I.G.

weld torches and their controllers.High school diploma or GED.Basic computer skills.CERTIFICATE, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Certificate in Welding is desired, but not required.Possession of a current and valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
