Cellar Intern – Col Solare (Benton City, Washington)

This approach has resulted in our ability to offer our consumers outstanding and distinctive wines from some of the best regions in the world.We are currently seeking a highly qualified candidate for a harvest internship position for the 2021 harvest (generally September to December) to join our team at Col Solare in Benton City, WA.What you will do:* Work with a small team to produce ultra-premium wine on Red Mountain.* Assist in daily tank and barrel rounds checking and recording brix and temperature.* Assist in all harvest cellar activities including but not limited to grape evaluation, sorting, pump overs, manual punch downs, pomace shoveling, chemical additions, pressing operations, racking, barrel filling, and lots of cleaning/sanitizing.* Assist in laboratory duties including tank sampling and general winery analysis.* Spend 90% of time in cellar and 10% in lab.* Provide necessary assistance to winemaking as needed.* Work in conjunction with permanent and temporary cellar staff.* Participate and track harvest experiments in accordance with winemaking directions.* Set up tastings and trials for winemaking as needed.* Complete all written and verbal assignments as directed.* Understand and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.* Work morning or afternoon shift up to 60 hours a week, on a team or independent, in a fast-paced environment.What you will bring:Desired Qualities:* Posses a passion for wine, eagerness to learn, and desire to work in a motivated team environment.* At least 1 prior harvest cellar experience ideal.Physical Requirements:* Full body mobility: Ability to stand; walk; sit; use tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, kneel.* Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.* Ability to walk and/or stand on concrete for long periods of time and climb stairs regularly* Ability to work in confined spaces as needed after training* Regularly required to roll, move, and/or lift 60-gallon empty wine barrels when needed.* Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.* Ability to follow work orders and written instructions.* Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts, 6 days a week during peak harvest* Must be 21 years of ageQualifications:* High school diploma or GED equivalent required.* Valid Driver’s License.* Must be able to be certified in forklift and scissor lift operation.* Ability to work nights and/or weekends during the harvest season or as business requires.* Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.* Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within changing priorities with enthusiasm.* Commitment to excellence and high standards.* Two to four years of previous wine or beverage production experience.* History of responsible use of alcohol and other appropriate conduct, as well as fitness to be licensed, permitted, and/or certified by state and/or local regulatory bodies.Who you are:* You are curious and continuously learn and grow your capabilities.* You respect and value the power of conversation to bring people together, learn and tackle problems.* You value inclusion and work to build an environment where everyone feels encouraged and every voice is heard.* You are innovative and have the courage to pursue new insights.* You make an impact by being ambitious and taking action.We believe in developing the leadership skills of our employees by providing opportunities for training, development and advancement.Ste.
