Chaplain Resident – Spiritual Care Chaplains

**Description:****Providence is calling a Chaplain Resident (1.0 FTE, Full Time Day Shift) to work in** Spiritual Care Chaplains **at Providence St.

Applicants that meet qualifications will receive a text with some additional questions from our Modern system.**The Chaplain Resident provides spiritual emotional support to patients, families, guests and staff in acute and outpatient settings.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to the coordination and collaboration of spiritual care within a team, as well as participation on interdisciplinary clinical teams.

Simultaneously, the Chaplain Resident is actively engaged in an action-reflection process model of education that focuses on the development and enhancement of the student’s professional competency and pastoral identity.**In this position you will:**+ Provides assessment of a patient’s spiritual, religious, and emotional needs:+ Patients seen and followed for spiritual support are referred in a variety of ways.

Patients can be referred by any provider of care including physician, nurse, social worker, therapist, or other; by personal referral, by family, area clergy, or by direct referral by the chaplain herself/himself.+ Demonstrates ability to provide initial visit: Review of the medical record information provided regarding the patient.

And/or if necessary, seeking out the appropriate medical personnel.+ Chart visits, assessments and follow-up visits in the progress notes of the patient’s medical chart:+ Demonstrates ability to document visits in the appropriate medical record section of the chart in order to enhance the whole person interdisciplinary care of patients and their family.+ Utilizes legible penmanship.+ Provide ministry to individuals and families in their grief process:+ Chaplains are available on a rotating basis 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year to assist in grief support and ministry.+ Demonstrates ability to provide appropriate grief ministry to the cultural/religious spiritual background of persons served.+ Demonstrate knowledge in the process of grief and loss as outlined in the Bereavement Support Guideline.+ Chaplains provide competent spiritual care for persons and families in their time of crisis:+ Demonstrates ability to appropriately respond to crisis in the delivery of spiritual care.+ Assess and respond to the spiritual/ emotional needs of individuals or families during the crisis.+ Provide sacramental to a variety of faith denominations are:+ Appropriately assess all requests for sacraments and provide access whenever possible.+ Provide opportunities for prayer in response to patient/family request and/or desires.+ Participate in the morning report, patient care conferences, family conferences, and on hospital committees as assigned:+ Participate regularly in the morning report offered on their assigned units.+ Chaplains participate in conferences by providing appropriate information to the team which is helpful and insightful in their interdisciplinary approach.**Qualifications:****Required qualifications for this position include:**+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.+ One Unit of CPE.**Preferred qualification for this position include:**+ Master of Divinity or related graduate theological studies.**About the hospital you will serve.**Providence St.
