Known for innovation and its clinical excellence, Klamath Basin Behavioral Health (Klamath Basin or KBBH) has been a community anchor for behavioral health services for over 40 years.  From its roots as a family-focused children’s mental health clinic, Klamath Basin Behavioral Health (KBBH) has grown to become the largest behavioral health provider for children, adolescents, adults, and families in southern Oregon. KBBH delivers a broad range of evidence-based and family-focused, services, offering high quality, accessible care.  KBBH is a respected and reliable partner of  Cascade Health Alliance, a diverse array of funders and has a reputation within the healthcare and human services system for its “Can Do” approach to meeting client and community needs. Through these and other unique community partnerships, Klamath Basin Behavioral Health has emerged as an integral part of the healthcare and human service fabric of the community.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Chief Executive Officer (CEO), you will be the highest professional officer of Klamath Basin  Behavioral Health and will be responsible for the organization’s performance – programmatic, administrative, and financial.  Key leadership roles will include collaborating with the Board to develop and implement KBBH’s strategic vision; stimulating the development of state-of-the-art programming strategies that position KBBH as a regional, statewide and national leader for achieving community impact; guiding, coaching and empowering the executive leadership team; with the Board and leadership team, setting and achieving programmatic and financial goals that assure a stable future; and, fostering a culture of excellence, service and accountability – both personally and for the organization. As the highly visible primary spokesperson for KBBH, you will communicate plans and policies to broad audiences and develop and nurture productive relationships and resources deemed essential for the attainment of KBBHs goals and objectives. You will be an engaged and productive member of the community.

Klamath Basin Behavioral Health is facing several + challenges, each of which is critical to its future and all of which require exceptional leadership and teamwork:

  • Executive leadership transition
  • Transformation of services and supports to implement its recent award as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Center and prepare for Value-Based Reimbursement
  • Recovery and stabilization in the post-Covid environment
  • Meeting increasing service demand amid new standards of care and the uncertainties about future funding
  • Realignment, recruitment, training, development, and retention of Staff in a highly competitive environment

  • Be a results-driven leader and entrepreneur with experience engaging broad stakeholder groups – board, staff, consumers, families, and communities – to shape a future of innovation and risk-taking without moving away from what KBBH does best
  • Have a philosophy of shared leadership, collaboration, and accountability
  • Be politically savvy and an excellent communicator
  • Have a successful track record leading strategic initiatives and building innovative systems of care in collaboration with professional and community partners
  • Have a strong business sense within the community health and human services context, able to balance clinical and financial goals
  • Be facile with the personal business approach that is a part of Oregon
  • Hold a Graduate degree in a Human Services field, Business, Healthcare or Public Administration or a related field, preferably with a human services or non-profit specialization.
  • Licensure as a behavioral health provider is preferred but not required
  • Have at least 10 years progressive experience in management positions of increasing levels of responsibility in community behavioral health organizations, hospitals, or integrated healthcare systems.  At least half of that experience should have been in senior management positions. Experience working with/for a Board of Directors is a must.
