Data Center OperationsCustomer Engineer Operational Duties Ensure equipment is installed, repaired, or re-configured correctly and quickly, coordinating with other teams (customer and supplier) as needed Ensure that the assigned work area is clean, stocked, safe, and secure by following established policies for maintaining work areas, stocking equipment and parts, and protecting information and physical assets Coordinate all incident related activities at their assigned location and across other geographically disperse data center locations. Drive cases to resolution with support and other parties involved in incidents Be available to work 1 st , 2 nd , or 3 rd shift (static) Effectively multitask, communicate proactively, and have excellent time management skills Participate and manage large install or change projects that require task assignment, reporting, and communication through escalations and coordination with customer and supplier(s) to resolve issues Build, maintain, and revise processes to ensure efficient breakfix and communication activities Responsibilities Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of server and storage equipment in a customer’s production environment Must be able to walk long distances and stand for long periods of time Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment up to 50lbs safely Updating, adding, and closing incident activity in one or more incident tracking systems Coordinating receipt, stocking, and return shipping of equipment, parts, and other materials Monitoring of the assigned work area, parts cages, and related areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and security Concise, proactive communication with geographically dispersed team members Train new team members on products, operational support, and best practices Responsible for monitoring alerts, managing enterprise storage solutions and system infrastructure while processing high level customer service to IT and Business Units Serve as On-site Point-of-Contact for all issues affecting the technical environment, including problem ownership, coordination, and reporting, from detection to resolution Manage asset inventory for the assigned data center, including shipping, receiving, and asset tracking Assist in producing and maintaining training manuals, policies, checklists and procedures Ability to multitask and maintain timely communication between tasksincidents Various other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary Work independently as a member of a geographically dispersed team SOW Skills Required On-Site Enterprise Customer Engineer 1 to 3 years’ experience maintaining storage andor server equipment in a data center environment Excellent communication skills Strong written communication skills, documentation skills a must. Excellent time management skills iSCSI storage experience preferred HP server experience preferred Dell server experience preferred Dell storage experience preferred Must be a self-starter, and able to work with minimal supervision Ability to adapt to ever changing requirements, processes, and environment Must have reliable mobile phone service with email capabilities EEO Employer Apex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
