General Job DescriptionDogwood Industries is seeking an Industrial Painter to paint prefabricated steel structures. The core mission of the Industrial Painter is to clean, prep and paint steel structures in a professional manner using brush, roller or spray. The Industrial Painter will be responsible cleaning and prepping the steel in accordance with NACE standards, which includes the use of hand and power tools. The paint must be mixed, prepared and applied in accordance with procedures and manufacturer’s instructions. Additional duties include cleaning and maintaining painting equipment and tools and recording data on cleaning and coating verification forms. In this position, quality control hold points will be adhered to. The Industrial Painter will adhere to all safety rules and use appropriate personal protective equipment for the work. The Industrial Painter will take initiative to correct conditions that need attention and request Supervisor approval when necessary to take action beyond previously authorized or directed work. Whenever time permits, the employee will be available and willing to help other teams complete production assignments. All other duties as assigned.Skills & Qualifications RequiredPrevious industrial paining experience required. Ability to read and understand product labels and follow directions for paints, solvents and other related productsAbility to reach, bend, crawl, stoop and lift up to 25 lbs. with no restrictions (see physical requirements below)Ability to paint in accordance with procedures and instructionsAbility to be fitted for and use a respirator when requiredAbility to be self-directed, requiring little or no supervisionAbility to work well with others and participate as a team member when appropriatePhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance for extended periods of time. Be able to lift, pull and push material and equipment to complete assigned job tasks. Be able to lift 25 pounds of weight throughout assigned workday if required. The employee will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors. This position requires physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities in a primarily production environment.
