Log Scaler JOB DUTIES: Scale logs in the log yard and merchandiser Visually exam non-scale loads for log quality Communicate log quality concerns and successes with area supervisor and foresters Maintain lines of communication with machine operators for the proper and safe spreading of logs for scaling Maintain a clean and safe work area Control dust in work area Run equipment in and around the log yard Operate truck scales Assist in training and mentoring of new employees Other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS: Able to scale small diameter logs in the log yard, visually examine non-scale loads for log quality and communicate with supervisor/foresters on log quality issues Certification for Washington preferred, but not mandatory Must be 18+ years old to work in an industrial sawmill environment Must have HS Diploma/GED Must be able to continuously stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders safely. The weight required to be lifted each normal workday may occasionally exceed fifty (50) pounds at a time Applicants will be subject to a criminal background check. However, having a criminal record will not automatically eliminate you from consideration for the job.
