SUMMARY: General daily responsibilities include setting up and running prototype and production jobs in a manner that is consistent with Altek’s Quality Standards. Will follow pre-existing Standard Work Instructions as well as develop new ones per Altek format. Trouble shooting shop floor issues and training machine operators will also be part of the Machinist’s responsibility. Will often work with others to plan and achieve goals set by Supervisors and Management.
Entry Level Requirements:
- 5-years experience or equivalent in automated production setup and machining
- Experience with manual and automated equipment & controls common to machining environment
- Able to effectively work with various individuals and departments in a team environment
- Able to effectively interpret blueprints
- Proficiency in the use of inspection tools
- Certificate of Completion in Machine Technology course (preferred) and High School Degree or GED
- Experience with CAD/CAM software will be a plus
- Quality conscious attitude and pride of ownership in designated responsibilities
- Must have a reasonably complete set of personal tools
Technical Skills and Responsibilities:
- Perform production machining according to Altek’s Quality Policies & Procedures
- Inspect product according to Altek’s Quality Policies & Procedures
- Setup equipment to run production according to blueprints
- Develop and maintain product/setup documentation
- Troubleshoot processes, programs, equipment and tooling
- Shop Floor programming and editing of CNC programs to maintain product quality
- Facilitate other employees in meeting quality standards
- Design and build fixtures and work-holding devices
Administrative Skills:
- Possess comprehensive reading skills
- Able to communicate effectively in writing and orally with peers and supervisors
- Intermediate computer skills
Interpersonal Skills:
- Ability to build and maintain positive rapport with other Altek employees, customers and suppliers
- Exhibit positive communication and behavior skills.
