Intern – Occupational Health and Safety

These endeavors have been around for centuries and will continue to be a vital part of the global economy. We currently have a Safety Intern position at our Simplot facility in Pasco, WA.

This position will support Simplot EHS&S initiatives to ensure the overall health, safety and security of all employees, contractors and visitors. The position will work full time as business requires.

Key Responsibilities

• Assists with developing, reviewing and updating safety programs, processes & procedures to ensures compliance with all applicable company policies as well as federal, state and local safety & health regulations
• Participates in safety activities and assessments
• Facilitates and participates in employee safety orientations and training and other safety meetings
• Processes and maintains incident reports and data collection
• Attends and participates in incident review and other safety/health and security meetings, audits and assessments
• Assists Safety Manager with safety projects and special assignments as necessary
• Conducts PPE assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) hazard analyses, and sound level testing as required
• Maintains incident tracking system; prepares reports as directed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Typical Education

Currently enrolled in college/university

Relevant Experience

• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Maintain a passing GPA (Provide transcripts as requested)
• Six plus months related experience or major in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene or similar
• Must be computer proficient
