Commercial Loan Closer & Documentation Prep Team Lead

First Interstate BancSystem

This is a Full-time position in Spokane, WA posted November 30, 2020.

**If you are a current FIB employee, please apply through the Career Worklet in the Employee Portal.SUMMARYThe Team Lead position will provide direct oversight, leadership and training to both Loan Closer and Documentation Preparation Specialist team members, and is thoroughly knowledgeable and skilled in all responsibilities handled by these teams.

Staff may be located both on-site and remotely.

The Team Lead actively participates in duties and responsibilities of both a Loan Closer and a Documentation Preparation Specialist, along with overseeing the team’s production and quality, and ensuring processes remain in compliance with policies, procedures and regulations.

Ensures superior client service, and manages the team in accordance with established service level agreements.

The Loan Closer team is the key focal point for all loan closing tasks and will pro-actively interact with branch employees, portfolio management, underwriting, document preparation, and third party vendors (i.e.

title companies, insurance agent).

A Loan Closer team member is expected to effectively communicate with all parties to expedite the request for loan documentation, while meeting underwriting, bank policy, compliance and regulatory requirements.The Documentation Preparation Specialist team successfully creates commercial loan document packages for all levels of complexity and collateral types, including SBA loans.

A Documentation Preparation Specialist team member will follow established guidelines and procedures, and will have a strong knowledge of LaserPro, loan documentation, credit policy and bank products.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinates the hiring and training of new Loan Closers and Documentation Preparation Specialists, and provides ongoing coaching and training to all team members.Actively works queues and fulfills all responsibilities of a Loan Closer and a Documentation Preparation Specialist.Provides active supervision of all loan closing and documentation processing activities.Participates in management of commercial tickler system; may include setup of monitored items, updating, and providing reporting.Assists with development and maintenance of procedures and training materials.Fosters a collaborative environment within the team and with all internal and external client interactions.May participate in projects designed to improve systems, tools and processes.Ensures compliance with all internal policies, procedures and audit standards.Ensures responsibilities are completed in accordance with established service level agreements.Participates in internal and external training to maintain knowledge of Bank products; attends operational and exception meetings and keep abreast of all credit policies and changes.Provide support and back-up for all positions in the Department as needed.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Advanced understanding of credit products, documentation terminology, vendor documents and services, and the loan document preparation systems.

Ability to coach and mentor team members.

Exhibits advanced knowledge of applicable regulations, bank policies and procedures, and has the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.

Experience with complex commercial lending and SBA loans required.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast paced, production environment and have strong organizational skills, time management skills and strong attention to detail.

Advanced interpersonal skills, including developed oral and written communication talents.

Demonstrated independence in problem solving and decision making.

Excellent skills with personal computers and related software packages.OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIESAdvanced personal computer skills with demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft EXCEL, WORD, and e-mail; self-starter and works with minimal direction; strong verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills and team orientation; ability to meet deadlines; ability to appropriately escalate issues requiring problem solving and decision making.
