Psychiatrist In Chief

This is a Full-time position in Vancouver, WA posted February 1, 2021.

nnThe Chief shall ensure that the clinical, educational, and research roles of the Department are achieved in accordance with the mission, vision and goals of the BCCH & BCWH, the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), as well as the Master Affiliation Agreement between the PHSA and the University of British Columbia, including oversight of a program of child, youth and reproductive clinical services for the province of BC that includes 40 acute care inpatient beds, 14 live-away treatment beds, 12 sub-specialty clinics, a telehealth service, and COMPASS, a provincial provider support program for those who work with children and youth to age 24.The Chief will also serve as the Head of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the UBC Department of Psychiatry, providing leadership to Division members and serving as a liaison to bring effective co-ordination of responsibilities between the UBC Department of Psychiatry and the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry units at each Teaching Hospital site.

The Division Head’s responsibilities will include collaborating with Division members and other leaders to develop academic goals, objectives and long-range plans to meet the strategic goals and mission of the Division, the UBC Department of Psychiatry, and the UBC Faculty of Medicine, with regard to undergraduate, postgraduate, and postgraduate subspecialty education in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, as well as research activities and initiatives within the Divisions specialty area.

The Division Head must be eligible for, and will be expected to hold and maintain, a formal appointment within the UBC Department of Psychiatry.Preferred candidates will have FRCPC or similar qualification, along with certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry subspecialty, and an established track record in research and leadership.

Candidates must be eligible for licensing with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia.
