Job Title: Quality Assurance TechnicianStatus: Hourly, Level IIReports to: Operations Director of EngineeringJob Summary: The purpose of this job is to assure both inbound and outbound shipments of raw materials, components and finished goods meet the specifications set for by the various engineering documents, manufacturing procedures, and standards.The Quality Assurance Technician [level II] performs routine tests to ensure parts, such as lithium-ion cells & batteries, PCBAs, mechanical parts, and other materials meet the required specifications.

The QA Technician performs internal manufacturing audits to ensure adhering to GMP and company standards, records test data and communicates modifications to the manufacturing process to eliminate any irregularities.

This position requires knowledge of measurement tools, electrical components as well as electrical safety codes and regulations.

They must be professional, technical, and mechanically proficient.Essential Job Functions: Responsible for performing incoming, in-process and final inspection using a variety of tools and test equipment; calipers, test fixtures, meters, chambers, cell sorting, power supplies among others, based on specifications and internal production control documentation.Perform visual inspection (packaging, labeling and printed inserts) against internal specifications using good judgment regarding workmanship issues.Document inspection results into the QC Checklist per requirements.Bag and label product per system generated requests.Perform QC voltage, internal resistance, weight, and other performance tests of critical battery packs per system generated requests.Interface with Engineering, Purchasing, Customer Service, and other Departments regarding product quality issues.Identify, document, and analyze defects deviation and corrective actions within the philosophy of continuous improvement.Generate and process documentation on non-conforming product.Recommend corrective actions and works closely with other Departments to ensure timely resolution.Participate in new product introduction process including verification and documentation of First Articles.Complete/assemble/submit First Article documentation per provided specifications.Conduct process/product audits and report findings.

Participate in various process improvement activities.Maintains all relevant quality documentation related to the position.Reconcile discrepancies with company personnel.Responsible for correctly preparing Lithium (and other chemistries) of batteries for Air Shipment.Replace connectors by soldering; reconfigure battery packs or packaging as required to support the needs of our customers.Provide a variety of support functions to other departments as required to support our customers.Qualifications: Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial manufacturing required.Knowledge of UN, IEC and other compliance schemes is preferred.Strong problem solving, social, and oral/written communication skills required.Familiarity with Quality Management Systems such as ISO9001:2015 preferred.Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, schematics, and a strong understanding of geometric tolerancing and other visual specification layouts.Minimum Requirements: Quality Control Experience.Familiarity with standard quality management systems.Understanding device retention, record filing, equipment calibration and monitoring.Must possess and maintain a valid Driver License.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Skill to work safely under hazardous conditions such as working in the presence of live high voltage conductors and surfaces.Skill to diagnose and determine corrective action and understanding of Corrective and Preventive Action processes through investigation.Requires the ability to display knowledge of tools, methods, materials, and techniques of the specialty area.Requires the ability to display knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.Requires the ability to display knowledge of basic mathematics.Requires the ability to display knowledge of operation and care of testing, and specialized equipment.Requires the ability to display knowledge of applicable codes and regulations.Requires the ability to perform professional-level work dealing with data, people, and technology that relates to administrative, technical, scientific, engineering, accounting, legal, or managerial skills.Requires the ability to maintain accountability for inventory/property management.Physical Demands: While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk.

Employee will also use hands and fingers to handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Applicant must also be able to use pallet jacks, carts and other equipment to move loads in excess of 1000lbs.
