RN Stroke Program Coordinator

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for coordinating the CHI Franciscan Stroke Program for St. Anthony, St. Clare and St. Elizabeth Hopsital. The role maintains a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach to stroke management across the care continuum with the expectation of quality patient care, optimal clinical outcomes as measured by national and evidence-based standards of stroke care. The incumbent develops, trains and leads an interdisciplinary team that will provide treatment during the acute stages of stroke, and also provides education to health care professionals and community groups to: 1) raise stroke awareness, 2) promote an understanding of stroke risk and the urgency with which stroke symptoms must be dealt with; and 3) address stroke prevention and the latest treatment options for the organization.

Essential Duties:

  • Program development and sustainability oversight for the stroke program.
  • Maintains quality infrastructure of the stroke program within the regulatory oversight of The Joint Commission, state and community certifications.
  • Develops and delivers educational training activities provided to patients, organizational staff, patients/family members and the community
  • Assists in the development of marketing strategies and promotional materials for the Stroke Program that are designed to enhance brand awareness, expand market share and increase revenue to the organization; collaborates in the development of promotional campaigns for stroke health/prevention.

Qualifications

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

Associate’s degree in Nursing and five years of related clinical work experience, including two years nursing experience in an ICU/Emergency department setting and/or management of stroke patients that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities, OR

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or related field, including three years of related RN clinical work experience in an ICU/Emergency department setting and/or management of stroke patients that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Washington State Board of Nursing.
  • Current BLS certification for healthcare providers.
  • ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Completion of NIH Stroke Certification within 30 days of employment in the position.
  • Stroke Certified RN (SCRN) registration within one year of employment in the position.
