Director, Quality and Operational Excellence (QOE)

The Quality and Operational Excellence (QOE) Director is responsible for:ensuring that products and services are fit for purpose;development and implementation of organizational/operational excellence programs and strategies within NanoString Operations;development of behaviors and practices that foster a culture of accountability and excellence in delivery;key contribution to development and execution of continuous improvement initiatives, strategic scorecards and dashboards, best practices in business processes, operational excellence principles and systems development and deployment;jointly with other functions (R&D and Operations) in ensuring that products and services are delivered safely within agreed timelines and costs.The scope of responsibility spans Suppliers to Inputs to Process to Output to Customers.

These responsibilities are fulfilled by addressing the availability and capability of materials, people, equipment/processes, systems and facilities using world-class approaches and techniques such as Business Process Re-engineering, Sigma and Lean.Role will report to the Senior Vice President, Operations.Essential Functions:Provide direction, supervision, and guidance to ensure alignment with quality policy, strategic objectives and organization goals that drive to Platform Reliability plans and Strategy for Life Cycle Management.Collaborate with senior leadership for planning, execution, and management of process improvements, projects, and other initiatives.Develop and implement Quality program quality plans, procedures and company policiesEnsure performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standardsReview, analyze and report on quality discrepancies and data related to productionLead integrated senior management teams to determine strategy and tactical deployment, improve performance, lower costs, and generate innovative solutionsInvestigate problems and develop disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepanciesInterface with stakeholders and contract manufacturing partners to ensure requirements are metRecommends corrective actions, dispositions, process optimization and modificationsEstablish strategy, direction and application of continuous improvement through Systems and Tools, Teaching (Training Curriculums and Mentorship), and DeploymentImplement operational excellence roadmaps to drive continuous improvement and value flowChampion the strategic direction and transformation of Continuous Improvement by simplifying, standardizing, and integrating improvement programsEstablish and maintain best practices in areas of business processes, KPIs, and analyticsRequired Skills and EducationBS in Science and/or Engineering required, prefer MS and/or MBAMinimum 10 years of relevant work experience in Operations, Engineering, and Quality, preferably with 5 years’ experience as a QA DirectorMust possess a strategic perspective, leading vision and values, global acumen, and leadership dispositionMust be skilled in strategic thinking, managing through systems, innovation management, and negotiationStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsOrganizational skills
– can marshal resources to get things done, orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal, use resources effectively and efficiently, and arrange information in a useful manner.A passion for excellence.Preferred Skills and EducationProficient in leveraging quality science tools, processes and peopleMinimum LSS Green Belt required, prefer Black Belt certification.Certified Quality AuditorApproachable hands-on style with the ability to engage with people at all levels of management.
