Director of Development (Full -time, Senior / Lead / Principal)

As a Director of Development at Substantial, you will lead development on cross-disciplinary project teams, contribute to the growth and mentorship of developers, and collaborate with company leadership on a strategically innovative development offering.
What You’ll Do
In this role you will lead development on product teams from conception to launch, collaborating closely across disciplines and with client stakeholders to create compelling digital products.

Responsibilities
Evaluate a product experience holistically, from high level product architecture to the specifics of how individual features would fit together Lead in determining short and long term technical needs, objectives, and approaches to projects Take on various tasks, development-related or not, to support different processes and needs on your project teams Collaborate directly every day with designers, developers, engagement managers, and clients Balance time between directly working on development and supervising / maintaining the quality of work from other contributors on your team

Experience
8-10 years of relevant experience in software development, technical leadership and team management Experience working with modern agile software practices, clients in an agency model, and cross-disciplinary teams Experience developing across multiple technology platforms (eg.

browsers, applications, mobile and connected devices) Customer focused, self-managing problem solver, accountable and able to thrive in autonomous environments
